THIS SHOULD BE A MOVIE!!!!!!
by H. Bolslik (USA)
I could not put this book down!!! IT'S REALLY FUNNY!!!!! i was assuming a book about the tsunami in thailand would be morbid but i have always been curious about it so i bought BOXING DAY. i started it thinking it would just be a book to kill time on the plane.. and ended up laughing and crying and sharing the passages with my nieghboring flyers! i had to keep re-reading certain parts because i was reading so fast to try to keep my suspense at bay! this isn't just a book about the tsunami (although the author paints a vivid picture of what i was like) ..its a book about self discovery and it's one of the most entertaining and insightful books i have ever read.
I found myself in an environment of absurd characters common in a Hunter Thompson novel, while enjoying the self-deprecating banter of a Woody Allen film, and experiencing an emotional and spiritual awakening one would hope to find at a Wayne Dyer seminar.
Mr. Jaymes tells such an amazing story!! He writes from his heart and really taps into all the fears that anyone would feel while being on such a journey ... and he writes all the things that i would actually be thinking instead of beating around the bush or trying to make himself seem noble. i have been to thailand and his description of Koh Lak and Samui were so distinct .. he gets pretty graphic in his descriptions of decomposing bodies and water logged corpses, but it's actually quite beautiful becuase it's told with such a cool innocence. His determination to push through his own fears , left me questioning my own intentions in my every day actions and made me be honest with myself.
Christopher Jaymes is a brilliant story teller and his book should be made into a movie!!!!!!

Brilliant
by Andrew C. Mare (California)
I was taken on a journey that to date experienced only thru the media's eyes. Mr. Jaymes grasped my heart and soul in his reality of one of the worlds largest disasters. I laughed I cried I felt as though I was there, living in the moments and the journey next to his side. He truly gave me a new appreciation for my life.
Thank you Mr. Jaymes for many things that one will only understand by reading this book

A true gem
by Glenn Ripps (Venice, CA)
Mr. Jaymes takes the reader on his journey with such vivid imagery that you can see, feel, hear, and smell everything as if you were trudging through the mud right beside him. His keen sense of humanity breathes life into the video clips that inundated the airwaves following the infamous 2004 tsunami that devastated Southeast Asia. But Boxing Day isn't simply about this tragic event, it's about being a citizen of the world.
With Boxing Day, Mr. Jaymes has accomplished what all writers dream of: to transport their audience - body, mind, and soul - to another time and place. As I turned page after page wondering what was going to happen to me next, and who I was next going to meet, I came to realize that I had become him - or he had become me.
Boxing Day: ...The Sardonic Journey Of A Self-Deprecating Ego On A Cynical Quest To Make A Difference Summary
Based on a true story, we follow author, Christopher Jaymes, as he exchanges his would-be vacation in for a six-week stint as an aid worker in one of the world's most tragic disasters. Upon his arrival in Bangkok, he was informed that a tsunami had devastated the west coast of Thailand and that the only hotel still standing was the hotel holding his reservation. A demystifying and satirical, yet astonishingly human commentary at the gut-wrenching realities occuring at a time where selflessness should flourish, but selfishness prevails. Jaymes leads us through an adventure of mental anguish while drug-infested degenerates and hallucinatory aid workers pull together in hopes to fulfill their dream of serving humanity. At the core of the madness, Jaymes examines the fine art of deflecting ego chatter and the innate fear of the unknown that most of us harbor in the depths of our souls.
