Berserk is an incredible Manga to start reading. It has excellent characters, an amazing and complex plot, and it's very intense. It is pretty violent but unlike some other media, Berserk is not violent for the sake of violence. Miura really captures the dark side of humanity in Berserk and while it is fiction and takes place in a medieval setting some of the issues are really down to earth. The main character has the most incredible will and is a very inspiring character as well.

This is a great continuation of the anime series which covers volume 1 to mid 13 of the manga. The book leaves off after guts watches as his comrades become sacrificed to the god's hand and his escape from the depths of hell. With his daring escape and relentless vengance and hatred towards his best friend that has become his most hated enemy, he is determined to put a stop to their diabolical plans to rule the earth.

He intends to destroy the Godhand and its demons. Helped by his giant sword, a cannon and his hatred, Guts takes the road. Guided by his sacrifice brand. This volume goes on where the third volume left to tell the story of the Band of the Hawk. In this one Guts and his elf confront the elves from hell. It is always amazing how Guts can fight creatures that slaughter anybody else.
