5/5 A tour de force for Long and Midler

A tightly written and fast-paced comedy where there are no throw-away moments. Every scene counts. Besides being very funny, this movie impressed me with its internal logic where everything that happens follows from what had occurred earlier in the movie - nothing is contrived. When you see it you will wonder why there wasn't a sequel. Long and Midler make a great pair. It's a female buddy action flick.

This isn't a lofty expression of great art or literature -- it's a thoroughly enjoyable, wonderfully fun experience. You'll find yourself quoting it when you least expect it. Bette Midler, "There-is-no-God!" and Shelly Long, "Nine years of ballet, *******!" Watch it, laugh your head off, and watch it again!

This movie came out years ago and I am so happy it is on DVD. The storyline is lame honestly but the acting by Bette Midler, Shelley Long and George Carlin is not to be missed.

The laughs come easily and the developing friendship between Midler/Long is too funny for words. Carlin is at his best as an unwilling accompliance.

I recommend this movie for those who love to laugh without having to study the storyline too close.

Bette Midler and Shelly Long in some of the most hillarious work of there careers. This is a long time favorite of mine. I would recommend this to any one who appreciates humor. It is perfect for curling up on the couch with a bowl of popcorn. I would give this movie four stars. It has Bette and Shelly all over it.
