An OK Chick Flick
This is the classic "will the nice guy finish last" film that you kow how it ends ten minutes into the film. Topher Grace is lovable in this film and Kate Bosworth is perky without being annoying about it. This film is cute, but offers n...

Win A Date With Tad Hamilton!
This is such a common chick-flick. The girl falls in love with someone, without knowing that her guy best friend has actually loved her forever, and when she finds this out, of course, she ditches the other guy, and falls in love with her ...

Is it possible to climb out of the "Friend Zone" and become a love interest?
by Jason (Backwater, Alabama)
Pete (the perpetually nice Topher Grace) is Mr. Average Joe. He's not ugly, morbidly obese, or socially awkward, and he doesn't have any hideously disfiguring scars or conditions. The problem is, he's the nice guy. He doesn't dare risk a friendship with the perfect woman over possible rejection. So, naturally, in the ten-plus years he's known his crush Rosalee (Kate Bosworth), he hasn't made a move. Some say it's unrealistic that he hasn't hit on her, but it's quite normal. Simply put, he's grounded in the reality that the nice guy doesn't get the girl.
Meanwhile, Rosalee is the typical "most beautiful girl in school and/or small town." She's the innocent type whose wholesome beauty simply takes over a room and enthralls every man with whom she comes into contact. There is no doubt that she's garnered this attention since she was probably a pre-teen. Somehow, however, she's completely oblivious to the fact that a guy friend of hers is deeply in love with her, and she tortures him with every date or boyfriend she gets. When she wins an internet contest for a date with millionaire movie star Tad Hamilton (Josh Dushamel) - a guy whose real life probably resembles a Penthouse letter, "Dear Penthouse, you are not going to BELIEVE what happened to me last night!" - there is no choice for Pete but to make a last ditch effort to win Rosalee's heart.
Despite the fact that Tad is known as a womanizer in the media, and has no doubt bedded countless models, he quickly becomes smitten by Rosalee, a girl whose looks and smile can melt the average man. Now both guys like the girl. We all know that in reality it ends up with the hot chick and the millionaire, with the Hollywood bad-boy eventually cheating on her with a high-priced hooker on Sunset Blvd. Nonetheless, the stereotypical battle ensues between Pete and Tad (one of the stupidest names in history).
Since this is a vapid romantic comedy, you can guess how the predictable competition plays out. Unfortunately, this movie breaks relationship and Ladder Theory Law: once on the friend ladder, no man can climb from it to the love interest ladder. That's the biggest flaw. Admittedly, it's not my normal cup o' tea, but it's a nearly flawless, albeit lazy and stereotypical date movie, and I can't see how the little girl in every woman wouldn't wish to be Rosalee.

Suprisingly Fun
by MovieWatcher
I just saw this movie on on TV & was surprised how much I liked it. I'd seen the DVD cover-art & thought "Ugh, that looks lame!" but the movie is really cute! Light, funny and charming.
Josh Duhamel is perfect as the hunky famous movie-star & Kate Bosworth does a great job as the sweet girl-next-door.
Nathan Lane even makes an appearance as Josh's agent - awesome.
The story is basically cute normal girl meets a hot rich guy...and the hyjinks begin.
Not exactly WAR & PEACE, but very cute and entertaining. Definitely worth watching on a rainy day or if you're just in the mood for something fluffy & fun.

CUTE MOVIE.
by Kym McNabney (Illinois)
This is a cute movie. Funny and very romantic, in an old fashion kind of way. Love Topher Grace in this and the whole concept of the movie.

Perfect date movie
by Kevin (Pennsylvania USA)
It showed up in the mail one day. Kind of like someone is trying to mess with my head.
I would suggest to anyone that, if you want to meet Tom Cruise, you buy this video and then post it for sale, and chances are that the buyer will be a) someone who read this comment; or b) (more likely) Tom Cruise.
The special features were good. The special effects were awesome. And given that this was produced in 2006, I think the Citizens Commission on Human Rights offers some prescient insights into the....no, wait, it doesn't. Its crap.
Please note, same review appears for "Psychiatry An Industry of Death."

Win A Date With Tad Hamilton! (Widescreen Edition) Summary
A Smalltown Girl Enters An Online Contest To Win A Date With Big Screen Star Tad Hamilton. She Wins, Much To The Chagrin Of Her Best Friend And Co-worker, Who Is In Love With Her.
To improve their client's tarnished image, the managers of movie heartthrob Tad Hamilton (TV star Josh Duhamel) trump up a contest in which an innnocent middle-American girl will win a date with the hunk. A West Virginia grocery clerk named Rosalee (Kate Bosworth,
Blue Crush
) wins, much to the dismay of her friend Pete (Topher Grace,
Traffic
), who's secretly in love with her. A summary of the romantic triangle that follows won't capture the charm of
Win a Date with Tad Hamilton!
. Though formulaic in structure, the movie is constantly surprising and engaging in its details. All romantic comedies should have such a smart script, understated but spot-on acting (Grace, Bosworth, and Duhamel are delightful and given excellent comic support from Nathan Lane, Sean Hayes, Ginnifer Goodwin, and Gary Cole), and clean, clear direction (from the director of
Legally Blonde
, another formulaic but irrepressibly fun movie).
