4/5 Alexandre Pires, the next Luis Miguel?

This phenomenal Brazillian singer (who is the lead singer of Sopra Catarira) has done extremely well for his first Spanish, as well as, solo album. I typically don't buy Latin Cd's without a strong knowledge of the singer and the music, but at a listening station at a local record store, I was so wowed with the music on the cd and its versatility, that I bought it. Now it is one of my favorite cd's. I then took it upon myself to learn more about him, and discovered his discography with Sopra and more. His current smash-hit single is "Usted se Me Llevo La Vida", but you ain't heard nothin' yet til you get to Track 4 "Demasiado Fuerte". This smooth salsa track makes you long to hit the dance floor. This is a must for your Latin Music Collection. If the CD had a few more uptempo songs, it would definitely get that 5th star. I am looking forward to future works from Alexandre, but until then, I suggest you start off now and BUY this CD!!! :) Plus Amazon has it cheaper than what I paid for at the record store (I paid $18).

Alexandre Pires has a nice voice, and the songs are marvelous, but I must say that he sounds better when he sings in his mother tongue - Brazilian Portuguese. When he sings in Spanish, his voice is somewhat muffled and he cannot express himself dramatically enough.

Therefore, I think it is better to buy the original version of this album, the one in Portuguese. It is entitled - E POR AMOR and you can buy it here at amazon.com.

I heard this CD while I was in Puerto Rico this past Christmas, and I loved it. If you have a chance to see the video, you will understand why. His voice and words are beautiful. Please buy the CD. I can assure you that you will enjoy it. GG

5/5 My new favorite Latin crooner!

There are a handful of Latin crooners that I listen to at the moment -- Alejandro Fernandez, Chayanne, Luis Miguel, Christian Castro -- and Alexandre Pires is the new addition to my CD player. Alexandre has one of the most beautiful and soulful voices I have ever heard! "Usted Se Me Llevo La Vida" takes my breath away every time I listen to it, and the other ballads in his self-titled CD -- "Si Tu Me Amaras," "Necesidad," "Abandono" -- are like a slice of heaven. Talented Latin artists are scarce these days, and Alexandre Pires is one of the Latin Pop survivors!

I NEVER HEARD OF ALEXANDRE PIRES UNTIL I HAD A FRIEND PLAY THE CD IN THE CAR AND THE SONGS MADE ME THINK ABOUT MY HUSBAND. ITS A GREAT CD TO LISTEN TO WHEN YOU WANT TO BE ROMANTIC AND GREAT TO BUY FOR THAT SPECIAL SOMEONE, I LOVED THE WHOLE CD AND IM NOT A BIG FAN OF ROMANTIC MUSIC BUT I HAD TO BUY IT FOR ME AND MY HUSBAND. ITS A MUST HAVE. THE SONGS I ENJOYED THE MOST WERE ABANDONADO, USTED ME LLEVO LA VIDA AND AUI NADA ES IGUAL.
