I read the books first, then caught this series on TV way back when, and was delighted to find it in DVD. All of those who quibble about special effects, Zaphod's second head, bad audio... get a life! This is pure camp, the worse the special effects the better. Think of it as the video equivalent of King Arthur's "two halves of coconuts"... and if you don't know what I'm talking about, you don't deserve to enjoy these DVDs anyway. The 2005 movie was an abomination. This is meant to be cheap, pointless fun. It succeeds wonderfully!

The graphics were definately low budget, but that's what makes it extremely funny!!!!! If you have ever read the book, this video brings it alive.

If you think British comedy is funny, then this is perhaps the pinnacle. Douglas Adams is able to transform you from a simple desk chair human to a pangalactic traveler. Ever wonder why we are here? You still will after seeing this mind blowing comedy about life, the universe, and everything. (PS: don't see the remake b/c it rhymes with things that monkeys fling.)

As a fan of the Hitchhiker's, I think this is a must-have for everyone who liked the book. Much closer to the story than the 2005 version, and the extra material is almost priceless

My ten year old son loves the books, bbc radio series, the film and now this series to complete the obsession. He watched it once all the way through and now it's on the shelf, but I'm sure he'll bust it out again. Definitely worth the cost for my little sci fi lover!
