5/5 One of the funniest, sweetest tv shows ever

I am not British and have watched the entire catalogue of this series only recently. Now, my husband and I are watching it over again and I can see we will watch it over and over many times more. It's both hilarious and endearing. Many who don't like it on dvd, may have stopped early in the series - the first couple of shows or so are a bit of an experiment as the writer gets his sea-legs with his characters and his setting. But even early on, I found myself completely enthralled with David Jason's performing and we quickly sought out as much more of his work as we could get our hands on. This show is not just funny, it's very sweet as the street-wise, but uneducated Del-boy takes care of his old granddad, his younger, naive brother, and later the old uncle. The chemistry between David Jason and Nicholas Lyndhurst is to die for. Masterful performances and comic writing with soul.

I LIKE MOST BRIT SIT COMS. THIS ONE IS LAME, I AM SORRY TO GROWL. BUT ITS BORING MOST OF THE TIME. I CAN NOT RECOMEND THIS SERIES. I WOULD RATHER SLEEP OUTSIDE THAN WATCH MORE OF THIS SERIES! DEVIL DOG RATES THIS SERIES DOG MEAT!

Definitely not on par with "Are you Being Served" and the other top BritComs, but not bad. As a "Frost" fan I never thought of David Jason as a comedian, but he does a great job here. I really debated about 3 or 4 stars rating. 3 is probably too low. I wish there was a 3-1/2 star rating.

My husband loves this series, so I bought the boxed set for his birthday ... against my better judgement. Now he sits and laughs his head off, and as long as I don't have to listen to the show, I'm okay with that.
