2/5 Desi Scarpone Film Festival

2003 was a banner year for "indie" director Desi Scarpone and his company of regulars, as BRENTWOOD's SUGARHILL 4 Movie Pack clearly shows. Three of these crime/action "gems" wrre released in the space of those twelve months. The fourth ("Rockin' with a Bullet") came earlier, back when Scarpone was co-directing. All four of these have much in common: loud music, snow, fast-living criminals and plenty of ammunition flying every which-way.

SYNOPSES:

DEADFALL-- The allure of the music recording industry, with its wealth, fame and fast women, also has a dark underside.

DEALIN' DIRTY-- Los Angeles druglords ply their trade, often with deadly results.

RETRIBUTION-- Yet another film about the record industry, betrayal and violent revenge.

ROCKIN' WITH A BULLET-- Even more crimelords, fancy cars, babes, drugs and bang-ups. And let's not forget vice cops and ATF agents.


BRENTWOOD's 4-fers are nicely priced movie bundles. Video and sound quality of these digitally unrestored public domain films is generally fine. Discs are dual-side recorded.


BLACK WARRIORS 4 Movie Pack (also from BCI) combines gangstas and martial arts action.
