"The Rolling Stones Rock and Roll Circus" is a fascinating oddity. It was rediscovered- in all places-- in a cellar dumpster. Imagine Mick Jagger hosting an Ed Sullivan-type variety show, complete with circus acts. Have some well-known and little-known groups perform. It's a snapshot of 1968, with a studio audience of everyday people (one of them resembles Liza Minnelli,and there are nurses knitting) There's some ridiculous haberdashery, and it's a quirky masterpiece of its own.

"Circus" opens with Jethro Tull, when they were a relatively unknown folk rock group. The next number is the superb blues of Taj Mahal--a real show-stopper,and it's too bad he has only one number. The Who bring down the house-with Roger Daltrey bearing his chest in a Native American buckskin with numerous cross necklaces outfit. Marianne Faithfull sings a traditional English folk song, looking delightfully spacey. There's genuine rapport between Mick Jagger and John Lennon. Lennon had assembled a "supergroup" with Eric Clapton of the newly disbanded Cream (and shockingly clean-shaven), Mitch Mitchell of the Jimi Hendrix Experience, Keith Richards, and himself,of the recently disbanded Beatles (whom you might have heard of) They do an electrifying,gritty "Yer Blues." Then... it gets interrupted by the screeching Yoko Ono,his fiancee. Richards and Clapton heroically tolerate her singing--but Lennon genuinely enjoys it; that's real love. The Circus ends with the Rolling Stones doing a medley of "Jumpin' Jack Flash","Parachute Woman",their greatest hits cavalcade. If they seem tired,it's because they were. The Circus had numerous production problems,yet they managed to get through it.

"The Rolling Stones Rock and Roll Circus" is a fascinating snapshot of the '60s rock scene. Enjoy!

listen all you rolling stones fans i have one thing to say. the best rolling stones i ever saw was the rolling stones emotional rescue video that i been looking for for 29 years. i want the complete version of the performance of them in the studio.on the videotape called video rewind they cut the video down to nothing. i want version 2. the complete video seeing them perform. i do not know why they did not release this. i saw it on the solid gold music show 29 years ago and they had it on you tube but removed it.if anybody can answer me on this i will really appreciate it. if anybody has this please let me know by typing in a review. thank you

I bought this as a gift for my father in law after I had seen it myself. It is outstanding! If you like any kind of classic rock. This will be right up your alley. Every one should get this. You will not be disapointed, I promise!!!

Many of our favorite rock heros reappear in their youth--fasicnating and fun--Jagger does fine, so can't understand why he held this up for so long.
