4/5 Better than expected

This movie had more to offer than you might expect. I was pleased with the plot and enjoyed the story line. However, some of the movie was very poorly reproduced and was very hard to see the dark skinned characters against a dark background. While there was some mild nudity I feel that it was never inappropriate but rather represented a real-to-life presentation of these people in their natural culture. With that being said they could have relaxed about the nude scenes and even made some of the images a bit more clear and precise. The film was very tasteful and cautious about presenting the characters nude. I give this film 4 stars; not 5 because of some very poor colorations of the dark skin characters against a very dark background (especially in the beginning)making it hard to see what was going on. Otherwise a great film and fun for the entire (open minded) family. I would like to see many more like this.

A few years ago, I bought the illustrated book of Kirikou in French. My son (then 5) just LOVED this book, and constantly asked me to translate into English as I read. Recently, he (now 8) asked if I could look for the DVD - and now he just loves to watch it over and over again - he even sings some of the songs (in the 'African' accent) as he goes about his day! I highly recommend this movie to kids of all ages!!

DVD in Excellent condition...
Excellent movie.. I had the VHS and saw it in the Movies when it first came out... I wanted it as a part of my teaching repertoire. Great tools for teaching lessons of life as well as entertaining.
Excellently produced...

this movie is beautiful. my favorite animation. my little kids love it - there are so many life lessons to be learned in this movie, it should be required to see from 2 up. and even if you don't understand french, it should be viewd at least one time in it's 'native' language.10 stars!
