Interracial relationships not an issue?? Yeah for banging not marriage!
by E. Estevez (New York, NY)
This movie brings an new side to the story, that few movies dare to tap into. A black girl, actually ENGAGED to a white guy, who's well above low income status, doesn't happen often. As much as people may chose to be ignorant about the reality of inerracial relationships the truth is that most romantic relationships between black/white especially a black female and white male does not get pass the status of sex maybe if you are lucky girlfriend unless there are big gaps as in the black female being educated and better salaried and the white male usually in a blue collar job. The truth is that in upper class white america the blonde haired, blue eyed is still the preferred type.

I love this movie!! Definetly 5 stars.
by lisa (larkspur)
GUESS WHO has a great cast with great chemistry and Bernie Mac and Ashton Kutcher are really funny together. If you want to see a heartfelt movie that deals with family, and 2 young people in love, then I suggest you see this movie. This is the way they used to make comedies, funny and sweet.
Kevin Rodney Sullivan does a fine job with a good script. Definitely a feel good movie with a good music score and I love the songs picked for the movie. I consider this a perfect film.
Also, DVD has director's commentary.

Good Family Comedy
by K. Hutcherson (Lakewood, NJ)
With 13 siblings, I have learned that everyone has their own tastes when it comes to family movies. "Guess Who" is a film that will appeal to all ages, offer some laughs and teach a good lesson all at the same time. Wonderful acting on all actors' parts.
Guess Who Summary
Movie Dvd
Taken on its own terms as a big-screen sitcom,
Guess Who
offers plenty of humor with just enough social commentary to make its point without being preachy. Of course, we've come along way since interracial romance was such a hot-button issue in Stanley Kramer's earnest 1967 drama
Guess Who's Coming To Dinner
, and nobody's going to mistake Ashton Kutcher and Bernie Mac (in this updated semi-remake) with the original film's Sidney Poitier and Spencer Tracy. And that's fine, because
Guess Who
--from the director of
Barbershop 2
--doesn't pretend to be anything more than a slick, entertaining vehicle for domestic farce with the racial roles reversed. Kutcher's romance with an African-American beauty (Zoë Sandaña) causes sparks to fly when he's introduced to her father (Bernie Mac). What ensues is basically an interracial buddy comedy that's as uninspired as it is easy to watch, and there's a dinner-table scene that's refreshingly provocative in this movie's otherwise tamely cautious context. We can all be thankful that humanity has matured a little since the racial tensions of the late '60s, but Hollywood's progress (and Kutcher's career) remains subject to debate.
