2005 Black Crowes Live on DVD.
by Dr. Feelgood (USA)
It wasn't a bad concert, although I thought that their first record, and Southern Harmony, were the highlights of their career, so far. In any case, they play their hit songs, the sound is good, at a small venue.

Should have been much better.
by B. Manette (Pompano Beach, Florida, United States)
Great show put on by an awesome band. The problems are with the production. The sound is mediocre at best. The mix is poor with the band sounding muddy. The 5.1 is unlistenable with muddy instruments coming at you loudly from behind. It doesn't help that they chose to use regular Dolby and DTS rather than a lossless HD codec. All in all, it's a great show ruined by a producer who should be hung by his nutsac! Worth having, just not nearly as good as it should have been...

What is he singing? Is that why its called "into the fog"...????
by Steven W. Dragosz (Milwaukee, WI)
I really like the Black Crowes (e.g. via compact disc), so this Blu-ray disc comes as a surprise...a disappointment actually. For one thing, I defy anyone to understand a single word the lead is singing...the mix is that poor. The lead singer's vocals should be upfront with the band behind it, and not the other way around. The video quality is good, but the video production values are mediocre. This appears to have been a low budget, thrown together effort. The Black Crowes, a super band, deserve better than this. So do you.

Good concert
by John R. Tatum
Finally, we have some Black Crowes on HD! The concert has some great number and it's definetly worth picking up if your a Crowes fan and you have a decent sound system. By warned, it's only maxes out at 1080i, not 1080p, but its not a huge deal.

The Black Crowes "Freak 'N' Roll...Into the Fog"
by Gary Covington (Louisiana)
THIS IS A GREAT CONCERT OF THE BLACK CROWES FROM ATLANTA, GEORGIA. IT WAS FILMED IN 2005 AT THE FILMORE IN SAN FRANCISO. It consists of 19 songs, all very well performed. All the music is great, but there are a few standouts which include: "She Talks to Angels", "Hard to Handle", "Remedy", and "The Night they drove Ol' Dixie Down". It has a running time of approximately 150 minutes.
The line-up consists of: Chris Robinson on vocals, harmonica , guitar;
Rich Robinson on guitar, and vocals; Marc Ford on guitar and vocals; Steve Gorman on drums and percussion; Ed Hawrysch on keyboards; Sveen Pipen on bass and vocals; Mona Lisa Young on backing vocals; Charity White on backing vocals; and 4 horn players.
There is bonus material or non-concert material and somewhere in this material is an "impromto" performance of the legendary Gram Parson's classic "Sin City".
OVERALL, IT'S A GREAT CONCERT DVD, AND I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT.
The Black Crowes - Freak N Roll into the Fog Summary
Taking their cue from the Faces and early-'70s Rolling Stones the Black Crowes put the raunch back into rock & roll at a time when the genre was nearly blues-less achieving big success in the 1990s before embarking on a long hiatus in 2001. The band finally regrouped in early 2005 with the Robinson brothers joined by former bandmates Eddie Harsch Marc Ford Sven Pipien and Steve Gorman for a series of live dates that boasted long energetic two-set performances. FREAK 'N' ROLL INTO THE FOG captures the Black Crowes during their one-night-stand at the San Francisco Fillmore in August 2005 delivering jammed-out renditions of hits like "She Talks to Angels" "Jealous Again" "Remedy" and "Hard to Handle."System Requirements:Running Time 150 Mins.Format: DVD AUDIO Genre: MUSIC DVD/CONCERTS Rating: NR UPC: 801213015191 Manufacturer No: EV30151-9
