I'll Hold Back From Throwing Stones @ the Producer
This was an okay movie. I didn't hate this. I am still completely confused as to why they all spoke sign language to each other. If anyone has the answer to that feel free to let me know. But overall, it didn't suck. Maybe Sarah Jessica Pa...

Stone the Stones
An obtuse holiday comedy with a gallery of spiteful characters; the fact that we're supposed to believe all the relationships that develop or sympathize with the film's closing moments involving Diane Keaton are proof the writer and direc...

The family stone
I love this movie! Even though the actors are not actually family on screen you would never be able to tell. They bicker and fight and love like a family does. It really conveys the message that you should always appreciate family because ...

This isn't your typical light hearted Christmas movie. It's charming, smart and tells a great story of an actually relatable family who comes together over Christmas with some adversity ahead of them. This movie makes you remeber what the ...

The Family Stone Quick Review
Cheap drama. A waste. I just kept watching to see if I was right about my predictions of how things were going to end. Well, a totally predictable movie. You haven't seen it? You're not missing anything.

Great condition for a used DVD. Shipment took longer to arrive than I would have liked.

THE FAMILY STONE
by SISTER SUE
THE FAMILY STONE IS ONE OF THE FUNNIEST YET HEARTWARMING STORIES I HAVE EVER SEEN. MY MOTHER DIED OF BREAST CANCER AND SHE SO LOVED SNOW AS THE MAIN CHARACTER IN THIS MOVIE DID. THE MOVIE DEPICTS A "TYPICAL" DISFUNCTIONAL FAMILY WHO USES THEIR HUMOR TO SURVIVE. AS SYBIL SAYS IN THE MOVIE...."WE ARE ALL WE HAVE". MOVIE WAS IN EXCELLENT CONDITION AND AFFORDABLE. THANKS AMAZON FOR PROVIDING THE PUBLIC WITH SUCH GREAT PRODUCTS.

Tea: I do believe just a half cup..
by Alexis Smith
Overall not as bad as it could have been, but it wasn't a great movie. I liked it enough though, that I would buy it for my DVD collection.
When I saw the trailers for this movie, I had hoped it was going to be really funny (it's amazing how great they can make a movie look just from a trailer). However, it failed to fulfill my hopes. It had some funny moments in it (one of which for me, was not the kitchen fridge scene) that saved it. And it had some very touching moments in it too. Between some of the funny and some of touching, there was a reason for me to finish the movie.
It's the story of a son, who brings his Type A personality to the extreme girlfriend home, for his whole family (two sisters and two brothers) to meet for the very first time, during the Christmas holiday. Little does his family know, which they soon discover, that he plans on proposing to her, when he requests the heirloom ring from his mother. Well, some of the family is against the match, and then there's the secret health issue (of one member of the family) that hasn't been revealed to all the family yet, making for lots of drama.
It's a sweet sometimes funny movie that could have been great, but unfortunately just fell short of the mark.

hated it. very depressing movie
by ILJ (CA USA)
I was extremely disappointed with this movie. I even threw the movie away after I watched it, which is a first for me. The whole movie was very depressing, especially the ending. What good is there is a sister ending up with her sisters boyfriend and the mother dying? From a Christian perspective I do not recommend this movie at all. The character of Meredith, was a good person trying very hard to be liked and get along with a family who was very mean and unwelcoming to her. It really got ugly when she expressed her opinion about not understanding why a parent would want her child to be gay. The message of accepting the gay lifestyle and adoption was very prominent throughout the entire movie. It was very obvious the glorifying of this lifestyle. I believe there is an intentional message in the fact that Meredith's goodness was hated and the gay couple so loved. One of the first scenes was Meredith not desiring to sleep in the same bed with her boyfriend. This was the beginning of the dislike for Meredith, including criticism from the boyfriends mother. I don't think the use of God's name in blasphemous ways was necessary either but apparently offending Christians in this way is OK. I do not recommend this movie at all!!

Witty, spot-on family dynamics
by Jane Stone
I adore this movie. The family dynamics are wonderfully written and very entertaining. We watch this movie every year at Christmas time. A must see!

Join The Eccentric Stone Family For A Holday Gathering Filled With Unexpected Surprises. Before The Festivities Are Over, Love Affairs Will Unravel, New Ones Will Form, Outrageous Secrets Will Be Revealed & The Family Will Come Together Like Never Before.
For anyone who views holiday gatherings with equal parts joy and dread,
The Family Stone
offers plenty of comedy to identify with. Writer-director Thomas Bezucha's slapstick premise begins when Everett (Dermot Mulroney) brings his fiancé Meredith (Sarah Jessica Parker) home to meet his family for Christmas. It's an instant disaster when parents Sybil (Diane Keaton) and Kelly (Craig T. Nelson) agree with their gay, deaf son Thad (Ty Giordano, who is actually hearing impaired), pot-smoking son Ben (Luke Wilson) and daughters Amy (Rachel McAdams) and Susannah (Elizabeth Reaser) that Meredith is way too uptight to be welcomed into their family. Meredith recruits her sister Julie (Claire Danes) to help her thaw the Stone family cold front, and after building a solid emotional foundation for his holiday comedy, Bezucha starts to stack the deck with plot developments that, while heartwarming, border on the absurd. You either go with the movie's flow or you don't, and with this appealing cast (featuring some really nice work by Keaton, Nelson, Parker and Danes) it's easy to forgive Bezucha's unlikely blend of yuletide cheer, petty animosities, and romantic tables turned in the blink of an eye. Toss in a case of terminal illness and you've got a sad-happy tearjerker that works in spite of itself. If you don't recognize at least part of your own holiday clan in
The Family Stone
, you probably haven't been paying attention.
