· Chapter 1: Time of Apollo. In 1961, President John F. Kennedy set a goal: landing a man on the moon and returning him safely to Earth. This chapter examines how that task was achieved.
· Chapter 2: Apollo 4--The First Test. Covers the November 9, 1967 launch of the mighty Apollo/Saturn V unmanned space vehicle, which reached an altitude of 11,232 miles.
· Chapter 3: Apollo 5. Follows the successful testing of the Lunar Module, the spacecraft in which man will make his first landing on the moon. Lunar Module 1--not designed to return to Earth--tumbles on through space until destroyed when entering the atmosphere of the Earth.
· Chapter 4: Apollo 8 - Go for TLI. This voyage, manned by astronauts Frank Borman, James A. Lovell, and William A. Anders, was man's first trip to another celestial body, and included an orbit around the Moon on Christmas day.
· Chapter 5: Apollo 9--Three to Make Ready. On this mission, astronauts James A. McDivit, David R. Scott, and Russell L. Schweickart focus on testing the Lunar Module, the spacecraft that will land men on the Moon.
· Chapter 6: Apollo 10--Green Light for Lunar Landing. Features highlights of the second lunar orbital mission by astronauts Stafford, Cernan, and Young, and includes docking and descent of the Lunar Module to within ten miles of the lunar surface.
· Chapter 7: Apollo 11--The Eagle Has Landed. Depicts highlights of the historic first landing on the moon in July 1969, from launch through the post-recovery activities of astronauts Armstrong, Aldrin, and Collins.
