Bug is a waste of 100 minutes.. Can I get it back?
This had to be one of the worst movies I had ever seen. Whe I purchased it out of the $5 bin at the local Walmart, I was pretty excited that I found a horror movie that may pay homage to the Insect Movies of the 70s and couldn't wait to se...

My First Root Canal
I remember my first root canal. I didn't even know it was coming. It was painful, I needed nearly 8 shots. It just hurt over and over. The sound of the drill was so bad I was shaking. The dentist had to stop a few times because it was mak...

Great psychological horror, creepy not scary
This movie was not at all what I expected. I came in thinking it was a flat our horror filled with cheap scares and lots of gore. But that is not at all what Bug is like. It is more of a psychological horror. It doesn't really have any "tr...

Bug Quick Review
This is one of those films that linger with you and the longer you think about it, the more it starts to, well, bug you. The characters and dialogue almost devolve into caricature at times, but manages to keep things interesting.

This movie was awsome!!!!
by Stephen A. Doughty (mn, mpls usa)
I really enjoyed this film! If you didnt like it its prolly because you were expecting something else or you just didnt undestand it, therefore you couldnt get into it. When my brother first mentioned this movie i didnt really put any thought into trying to see it...dunno why but it just didnt catch me at first. He kept mentioning it and saying he wanted to get the dvd but couldnt find it (i always tell him to go to amazon cause you can find pretty much any flick here for cheap) He eventually ended up catching it on movies on demand and started talking about it again so i said ok im gonna put it on my netflix.
After doing so he kept asking if i had seen it yet so i decided to put it at the top of my list & Im glad i did! There are a few scenes that had me laughing my arse off and rewinding "HE'S A MACHINE!!!! A MACHINE!!!!" stab! stab! and when ashley judd starts going over what prolly happed to her kid and how the bugs arrives, and that leads to "IM THE SUPER MOTHER BUG!!!" GREAT MOVIE & HALARIOUS! Like i said in the intro, If you didnt like it its prolly because you were expecting something else or you just didnt undestand it, therefore you couldnt get into it. I got it in the mail last night and will be watching again before sending back. Then ordering it for the dvd collection.
& now back to work I go!

Strong performances can't save this film
by G. E. Williams (California)
I have a theory... If you can think up a conspiracy, it probably already exist in some form. Bug pushes that to the extreme in detailing the popular conspiracies of the modern world. Bildebergs, Tuskegee, Tim McVeigh, Gulf War Syndrome, AIDS etc.
It is a psycho-drama that just gradually fades into a mental health tragedy that is more of a downer than a lesson in life. Great performances by Ashley Judd and Harry Conic Jr. can't save this depressing movie.

Bug is bugged. Get out the Raid.
by Prof D (Peosta, IA USA)
This is, without a doubt, one of the dumbest and worst movies I have ever seen. Judd (a lonely, divorced woman somewhere in the southwest) is attracted to a drifter (Michael Shannon) who is convinced that the government "bugged him" with aphids that have the ability to multiply and seemingly infect other human beings. After a night of sex, we are led to believe the Judd becomes "affected" with Shannon's paranoid images and philosophy. Her ex-husband (Connick, Jr.) is no help and when a doctor tries to intervene and help Shannon with his delusions he stabs the doctor to death.
That brings us to the ending. After much bantering and ranting, Judd and Shannon douse themselves with gasoline and set themselves on fire after some worthless diatribe about aphids, mother aphids, host aphids, worker aphids and some other mindless stupidity after that.
It's no wonder that Amazon has copies that have been seen and offered at ONE CENT. Believe me, don't buy this worthless, totally illogical and ill-conceived movie and save yourself the penny (plus postage and handling).
I saw it on TMC and spared the expense. Apparently Judd and Connick need some dough...or else they would not have made such a worthless pile of junk.
Bug (Special Edition) Summary
Studio: Lions Gate Home Ent. Release Date: 05/13/2008 Run Time: 102 Minutes Rating: R
William (
The Exorcist
,
The French Connection
) Friedkin directed this harrowing portrait of slow-boiling paranoia about a lonely waitress (Ashley Judd) whose world spirals out of control after meeting a charismatic but damaged drifter (Michael Shannon). Said drifter fills the gulf of loneliness that has swallowed Agnes (Judd) whole as she struggles to stay afloat in a backwater desert town; gradually, Shannon reveals that his stint as a soldier in the Middle East has left him infested with microscopic bugs that he believes are part of a government conspiracy. The force of his conviction (combined with the horrific physical self-abuse he endures) slowly persuade Agnes that she, too, is infested, and the pair undergo a gruesome mental and physical meltdown. Based on the theatrical production by Tracey Letts (who also wrote the screenplay),
Bug
has a hard time escaping its stage origins (much of the action takes place in one dingy motel room), but Friedkin ramps up the intensity to near uncomfortable levels, and Judd and Shannon (recreating his performances in the New York and London productions) are more than up to the challenge. Their fearless turns are well-matched by Harry Connick, Jr., as Agnes' creepy ex-husband and Brian F. O'Byrne as a medic who may or may not be part of Shannon's shadowy government cabal. Viewers should be forewarned that the violence is intense and often bloody; those that find insects unsettling should avoid at all costs.
