They get an "okay" from me
I didn't hate this. I think this well was cast. Jane Fonda has such versatility. The story was a little akward, but I guess it fit. I guess. I liked seeing Lindsay Lohan come in as the city girl and herb out all those close-minded country ...

Georgia Rule Quick Review
Boring. The story was good but there was some weird thing that I didn't really understand. This movie also have a flat ending.

Thank you from someone who's been there!
by jenila (Canada)
I've spent more than 20 years dealing with similar issues explored in the film! What this film brings to light is the importance of validation to people who have suffered from horrendous crimes. Plus the amazing courage and strength that comes from overcoming and moving forward. It brings to light important issues many people may be unaware of -- how events can have a life-altering, destructive impact long into our future even while we battle to overcome the effects. The film also reveals the power and truth of positive interaction amongst people ... and that there are many types of healthy love and all sorts of positive relationships. While many may find parts of the film disbelieving, this film is very similar to my own truth. I am thankful to the group of people who brought forward the themes in this film, with a relieving touch of humour and compassion.

I keep being surprised
by Dick Pearson (Newark, UK)
I keep being surprised by Lindsey Lohan - my natural instincts are, because she is a high-profile and somewhat 'scandalous' public figure to write her off as just being famous for being famous and no more - but she is, however, an excellent actress and never better than in this film.
Add that to the fact that Jane Fonda is always good and Felicity Huffman a consummate professional then it is not surprising that they make what could be a rather squalid plot into a very watchable film.

Not a movie for most!
by Jena Brazda (Rohnert Park, Ca)
I went into this movie thinking it was going to be a romantic drama, I am not sure where the romantic is in this movie. This movie in points disgusted me allot. Most of which was played by Lindsay Lohan, before you think of watching this movie with your family at all you need to know that there is allot of discussion on rape, alcohol and such, not something I would even watch with my brother. The reason I gave it 3 stars was because I could not give it 2 1/2 other wise I would have. Definitely a movie I will not watch again.

Georgia Rules
by #3 (A-Town)
This movie is actually pretty good. I was skeptical about watching it but Jane Fonda and Lindsay delivered great performances. I reccommend seeing this movie at least once.
Georgia Rule (Widescreen Edition) Summary
Rebellious Teenager Rachel (lindsay Lohan) Screams, Swears, Drinks And Is -- In A Word -- Uncontrollable. With Her Latest Car Crash, Rachel Has Broken The Final Rule In Mom Lily's (felicity Huffman) San Francisco Home. With Nowhere Else To Take The Impulsive And Rambunctious Girl, Lily Hauls Her Daughter To The One Place She Swore She?d Never Return...her Own Mother's Idaho Farm. Matriarch Georgia (jane Fonda) Is Not Your Typical Sweet And Doting Grandmother. She Lives Her Life By A Number Of Unbreakable Rules, Demanding Anyone Who Shares Her Home Do The Same?god Comes First And Hard Work Comes A Very Close Second. Now Saddled With Raising The Young Woman, It Will Require Each Patient Breath She Takes To Understand Rachel's Fury. But As Rachel Succumbs To Her Summer Of Misery And Shakes Up The Tiny Mormon Town, Georgia Notices Something Is Changing Within Her Granddaughter. Given Structure And Responsibilities, Rachel Is Letting Her Guard Down And Learning Compassion -- Especially For Her Mother. Her Journey Will Lead All Three Women To Revelations Of Buried Family Secrets And An Understanding That -- Regardless What Happens -- The Ties That Bind Can Never Be Broken.
When three generations of women collide, it isn't always pretty. In
Georgia Rule
, Lindsay Lohan (
Mean Girls
) stars as Rachel, a wild child whose mother Lilly (Felicity Huffman,
Desperate Housewives
) ships her off to Idaho to be tamed by Georgia (Jane Fonda,
On Golden Pond
)--Lilly's own cantankerous mom. There, 17-year-old Rachel shocks the conservative community with her short shorts, eager sexuality (which she plies on everyone from 12-year-old boys to unsophisticated, but hot, Mormon neighbors), and her tales of possible sexual abuse at the hands of her somewhat slimy stepfather (Cary Elwes,
The Princess Bride
). As directed by Garry Marshall (
Beaches
,
Pretty Woman
),
Georgia Rule
is a flawed chick flick where the women are tolerable but not particularly likeable. The characters we want to know more about are the peripheral ones we don't see enough of--the men. Simon (Dermot Mulroney), the kindly (and sexy) veterinarian who was once madly in love with Lilly, in many ways is the film's moral compass. A widower whose wife and son died tragically in an accident, Simon would've made a more compelling movie subject than these women. And for all his latent pining for Lilly, the moviegoer feels relieved for him that dodged a bullet by not marrying into this dysfunctional family. While the female leads aren't quite believable as mother, daughter, and grandmother, they all have strong moments in the film that save it from being a groaning mess. While Lohan doesn't exhibit the charm she displayed in
Mean Girls
, she more than holds her own in parts with the scene-stealing Fonda, who is quite good at chewing up the scenery.
