Sickening in the Right Way
You should know by now what to expect when going into a Michael Moore documentary. He is completely one-sided, but despite his leanings, he has a remarkable way of presenting his argument that is both humorous and yet tragic.
Now, being...

Moore is a Maniac...but funny
So left wing this guy is. His views are so skewed. If you don't know that before going into one of his movies then you are gonna be sucked into his craziness. But I really did enjoy this movie. It had some really good points. I'm not big o...

Sick...Co.
"Sicko" honestly made me want to move out of this country. I felt livid when I heard all of these wonderful benefits of a universal health-care plan and how America is being paid not to do it at the expense of our nation's health. Ridicu...

I don't even know where to begin. This film shocked the hell out of me. I saw this with a friend who has relatives in the United Kingdom and he says that Michael Moore is right about the difference between the insurance here in the United ...

Sick, but something is left out
I admit it, I know nothing about my insurance and what I am covered for. The same goes for my wife. Am I covered for cancer? Who isn't covered? Michael Moore did an incredible job of convincing me that I am not covered for many diseases...

Sicko Quick Review
I'm not a huge fan of Michael Moore, but I did enjoy this movie/ activist documentary.

Sicko Quick Review
Very typical Michael Moore documentary. He presents the extremes of the subject and adds in comedy. Enjoyable to watch and better than Fahrenheit 9/11.

Sicko Quick Review
I didn't agree with all of it, and he left quite a bit out, BUT, he did a fantastic job at what he was trying to accomplish--point out the flaws of the American system in order to get people talking.

Excellent Documentary
by Danette (Florida)
This film was eye opening. I would recommend it to anyone and everyone!!! We all need to become more aware of our flawed health care system and what health insurance and pharmaceutical companies are capable of. This is the only way we can make more informed choices and create CHANGE.

Sicko DVD
by Ronald L. Shepherd (Garden City, Missouri United States)
Valiant effort to show our healthcare system in all its dysfunctional glory. And compares it to the Canadian, British, French, and Cuban systems. Good to watch and understand. Production values are not great but the film gets its message across pretty well. I think it is a "must see".

Sicko
by Deeann Y. Kizziah (Jasper, Alabama)
This "documentary" discussed the other side of heath care, in the United States, in a way that we all know exists but have chosen to ignore. While it is fairly one-sided, by giving all the pros and not many cons to socialized medicine, Moore does exactly what he intended to do (I think). Made me think.

Let's get real.
by Anonymous (USA)
I watched this film the other night on a premium movie channel. I think it plays with facts rather loosely and selectively. Yes, insurance companies often deny claims. I used to be an insurance administrator for a company I worked for and often I was appalled at refusals to pay; however, I personally know that submitting a grievance claim with a doctor's note often gets the insurance to pay. The part of the film that rankled me was Moore's attempts to claim that socialized medicine in countries like Canada and the U.K. work well. Nothing could be further from the truth. They do ration care, especially with folks older than 50 or 60. I know this from personally knowing a former boss of mine, who was a British citizen; he came to work in the U.S. so he could get his wife treated for uterine cancer. She was about 50 and had been diagnosed about 7 months and was still on a waiting list for treatment. When he found a job in the U.S. and brought his wife over, she was in treatment in just a few days. This country is in for a rude awakening if the healthcare bill passes because our citizens will go through the same nonsense as my former boss and his wife. And finally, I found the part about Moore taking people to Cuba for treatment to be such a lie ... is he so naive to really think that the general population of Cuba are treated in such a nice facility? No, those nice facilites for only for the favored few, such as the political elite of Cuba. There has been a lot of research into this since his film came out; do a 'Net search to get the facts about his grandstanding Cuba trip. This film was shameless propaganda for someone who thinks government is the answer to everything, when often it is government that is the problem.

SiCKO
is more like a controlled howl of protest than a documentary. Toning down the rhetoric of past efforts--no CEOs, congressmen, or celebrities were accosted in the making of this film--Michael Moore's latest provocation is just as heartfelt, if not more heartbreaking. As he clarifies from the outset, his subject isn't the 45 million Americans without insurance, but those whose coverage has failed to meet their needs. He starts by speaking with patients who've been denied life-saving procedures, like chemotherapy, for the most spurious of reasons. Then he travels to Canada, England, and France to see if socialized medicine is as inefficient as U.S. politicians like to claim--especially those who receive funding from pharmaceutical companies. Moore finds quality care available to all, regardless as to income. He concludes with a stunt that made headlines when he assembles a group of 9/11 rescue workers suffering from a variety of afflictions. When Moore is informed that detainees at Guantánamo Bay--technically American soil--qualify for universal coverage, he and his companions travel to Cuba to get in on that action. It's a typically grandstanding move on Moore's part. And it proves remarkably effective when these altruistic individuals, who've either been denied treatment or forced to pay outrageous costs for their medication, experience a dramatically different system. Nine years in the making,
SiCKO
makes a persuasive case that it's time for America to catch up with the rest of the world.
