A pretty good take on the serial killer story with standout performances from Costner and Hurt. Even Demi Moore was decent here. Some twists where good, others not so much, but overall it was well done.

A solid performance by Costner and Hurt. I really liked some of the realism the movie delivered, but there were also a lot of hokey things. In the end, it was a pretty good flick. See it if you like serial killer type movies.

2/5 Movie like Serial Killer; Can't avoid graphic violence for shock

This could have been a good movie with a fresh look at serial killers and what drives them.

In the end the Director and Producers, like the main character in the movie Mr. Brooks, simply couldn't control themselves and had to butcher humans on screen for shock value.

Hitchcock's lesson remains forgotten; what the mind can imagine is worse than what the Director and special effects can graphically display for you; or at least it use to be.

The second concern that I have with this kind of movie is whether it will inspire a budding killer or train existing killers on better ways to get away with it.

I picked this movie up for a dollar, after watching it in hopes of more clinical tale, I was in the end disappointed. I still hunger for a good movie.

In my climatic ending, the movie was moved from the DVD player and deposited into the garbage bin. It was the waste of my time and mind space acted out as a ritualistic elimination of the DVD, I folded it in half; perhaps acting out aggression learned from the movie. It is unlikely that the remains of the DVD will ever be found at the garbage dump.

This isn't the first DVD I have eliminated; and sadly won't be the last. Before I was the DVD folder, I used a number of ways to get rid of them, sometimes the shredder. I'll have to think of something new for the next bad movie.

Costner should have had enough clout to get all the graphic human butchering out of the movie; or has he too fallen on economic hard times.

Kevin Costner is dark and wonderful in this film. This movie is for you if you like films that make you think.

a neato serial killer movie this is probably the realistic serial killer movies-- kevin costner was great and dane cook was outstanding this was well put together and should be part of ur dvd collection.

Mr. Brooks is an interesting suspense about a man who takes pleasure in killing other people. Along the way, or rather, after the first killing that we see in the movie, he meets someone who's apparently a photographer.

The guy happened to take a picture of the killer shooting a couple... um... "doing it" in a bedroom. He even positioned the bodies in a sick sexual way after killing them so the cops would see the bodies in that position when they arrived to the scene.

The story gets interesting when the killer meets the guy who snapped the picture of him in the middle of the killing, because it turns out the photographer doesn't have ANY plans to turn the killer in after showing him pictures of the killing he just committed. Instead, the photographer actually wants to go with the killer on his next "kill job".

So the killer and the photographer go around town searching for the next victim. This takes up a good portion of the movie, building suspense the entire time.

This movie is great because it builds suspense and shows you what's it like to get inside the head of someone who has no compassion for human life. The entire film focuses on the killer having a make-believe friend helping to convince him go through with the killings. The invisible friend is just the voice in his head.

Also, the killers daughter plays a big part in the film with some neat twists you won't see coming.

Anyway, when the story gets going, the movie turns into a really solid film overall. I recommend this film to just about anyone interested in violent movies.

the story and the acting in this movie are INCREDIBLE! Also, besides being rather original, there's are several INSANE twists along the way that I bet no one would see coming.
