FEAST ON THIS...
by Scott (Pacific Northwest)
This is one of the worst movies I have ever seen. Do not make the same mistake! I like Morgan Freeman, but even he could not save this film. Go up to the Search Bar now and type Shawshank Redemption. You won't be disappointed. This movie might make you lose you faith in...humanity. The best part is the trailer. The actual film is just a mess of bad acting, unlikable characters, and ridiculous plotlines. There is a character name Chloe who pronounces her name "Chlo-ay." Why? Because she wants to be different. Need I say more? I almost turned it off after that scene, but I'm a sucker for car wrecks. Feast of Love is based on the novel by the same name. Have you read the book? Me neither, but I imagine they probably sell it in adult book stores. If you've seen the film that would make perfect sense because what this movies lacks in substance it makes up for in unnecessary nude scenes. At first it doesn't seem that odd. After the tenth or eleventh time you start to wonder if they ran out of ideas while filming and all they could come up with was more nude shots. It's not vulgar, but it feels out of place. It's like you're watching the Care Bears movie and out of nowhere one of the cute little creatures pulls a knife and stabs somebody. That's what Feast of Love is like. It's the Care Bears movie with a bunch of gratuitous violence. It just feels wrong. You will want to take a shower afterwards. You'll want a shower and a refund.

Realistic Love Story
by D. Jeter (South Bend, Indiana United States)
Feast of LoveNot much different in love stories told time and again. Veteran actors Morgan Freeman & Jane Alexander lead a good cast of actors in this tour of realistic love today. Warning for the kids, full frontal & partial female nudity, hence the rating. But it was an engaging story of falling in love. The story is told through the eyes of Morgan's character with insight and modesty. Notice that two of the younger actresses have both played in movies with Vin Diesel. Rhada Mitchel in "Pitch Black" and Alexa Davalos in "The Chronicles of Riddick" as the now grown up "Jack/Keira". I thought the plot was good and well written and very realistic by today's standards. This movie will make you sad, glad and mad. And if you don't shed a tear then you just aren't trying. Try it you may like it I do.

A Hidden Gem!
by BreitGirl (Chicago, Illinois)
Bravo! More often than not, watching a movie after reading the book is a disappointment. Whether the casting was off, the director failed to translate the story from page to screen, or too many liberties were taken with the plot, movies usually always pale in comparison to the book they were based on. After watching The Feast of Love, I feel compelled to write a review for a movie that stands apart from the rest. This is not the typical movie. Despite the stellar all-star cast, this movie received very little notice in the box office. For whatever reason, it never even came across my radar. While reading the book, I felt like the story lines could make a really good movie, so after finishing (and loving) the book, I went out and rented The Feast of Love. I was (and still am) pleasantly surprised with how great it was. Chances are, viewers of this movie will be strolling through the video rental aisles and an unfamiliar movie with an all-star cast will catch their eye. To answer the question running through their minds- you "haven't heard of it" not because it's a bad movie, but because it wasn't a monster big budget film. The Feast of Love is a hidden treasure- RENT IT! If you're in the mood for a funny, heartwarming, emotional flick about love and the people whose lives it intertwines; if you like great acting and an overall well made movie, you won't regret renting The Feast of Love. (Note, there is quite a bit of nudity/sex), so this is not one to watch with the kids.

Special film full of love
by Edmonson (Canada)
I really enjoyed this film. I had never heard of it before, but I noticed that Morgan Freeman and Greg Kinnear were in it so I gave it a whirl. And what a delight to watch such a wonderful movie. Thoughtful and warm films like this don't come along every day.
Robert Benton directs "A Feast of Love", which is based on Charles Baster's novel, and he does it with such skill and grace.
The actors give all around splendid performances, especially Alexa Davalos, Morgan Freeman, Greg Kinnear, and Radha Mitchell.
This one is definitely a keeper.

Surprisingly good!
by Paulieo (Kansas City)
Hey, Morgan Freeman! What can I say:) But the rest of the cast was SEXY and entertaining and kept me involved throughout the movie. Loved it!

The warm, reassuring gravitas of Morgan Freeman anchors
Feast of Love
, a multi-character meditation on the mysteries of that oh-so-powerful emotion. Bradley (Greg Kinnear,
Little Miss Sunshine
), owner of a coffee shop in Oregon, thinks his marriage is idyllic--until his wife (Selma Blair,
Hellboy
) leaves him for another woman. One of Bradley's baristas (Toby Hemingway,
The Covenant
) falls head over heels for a girl who comes looking for a job (Alexa Davalos,
The Chronicles of Riddick
), but his abusive father (Fred Ward,
Miami Blues
) spells trouble for the relationship. Finally, a professor (Freeman) and his wife (Jane Alexander,
Kramer vs. Kramer
) struggle to find purpose in life in the aftermath of a personal tragedy. Though some scenes are a bit precious and the dialogue leans too much on semi-philosophical pronouncements, viewers will find it hard not to identify with the universal trials of romance and the yearning for a family. Also starring Radha Mitchell (
High Art
,
Pitch Black
) as a real estate broker who can't stop seeing a married man. Warning:
Feast of Love
is predominantly about the ways of the heart, it features several fairly explicit sex scenes. Directed by Robert Benton (
Places in the Heart
,
Nobody's Fool
). --
