I'm always happy when what you see is what you get. I got the product very cheap, and it came in great condition.

AVP stands for A Very Pitchblack movie
by Eliane T. Goncalves (sao paulo, brazil)
this movie is too dark and I wonder if these darkness was made on purpose. Why?afraid to show that the film really does not have much to offer?Did not they want to show the predator and the aliens explicitly? But why? The fantastic atmosphere of the original saga had already been lost in the first AVP. It is just a frantic-paced C-movie trying to imitate a film from the fifties. There are slight references to the first Alien, like the name of one of the characteres, Dallas (played by Tom skerrit, in the first movie), the military girl , obviously an allusion to lt.Ripley, the population of the small town is expendable like the crew of Nostromo...but what for? Not totally bad but it should end here. Please, no AVP-3...

Great idea, fair execution
by magellan (Santa Clara, CA)
The idea of transporting Alien and Predator to an unsuspecting town somewhere in the U.S. and having them battle it out, seemingly destroying the whole down in the process, was a great idea, but unfortunately the execution here is only fair. I didn't hate the movie like many of the Alien and Predator fans here who gave it 1-star reviews; I thought the action and overall concept were good, but I do agree the movie had more than its share of problems.
For one thing, I agree with many of the reviews here that the lighting was way too dark and it was difficult to see many if not most of the scenes. Add to that that many of the scenes take place at night, in dense forest, in darkened buildings after a power failure (how convenient), or even underground in the city's sewer system, there are plenty of opportunities to avoid wasting any photons. They even show people using night goggles in several scenes; well, they probably needed them just to get around the sets.
There are too many characters to be developed in any meaningful way, but no doubt that was just to increase the body count, since all but a handful of them get killed off. And the action scenes were shot in that choppy way that often makes it hard to even follow the action, which I don't mind usually, but this movie had more of it than the original AVP.
Still, there's plenty of action and gore if that's what you want, but as one disappointed reviewer here commented, you can't see the gore because it's too dark. But be advised that this is the most violent Alien and Predator movie yet so it's not for everyone. There are scenes of aliens killing young children, teenage girls, and helpless pregnant mothers. They have to keep escalating the violence with each movie, so if it's interplanetary or intergalactic gore you want, you'll find plenty of it here. It's just not easy to see it.

Exceedingly medicore action film
by Andrew F (Seattle, WA)
This movie has enough action and special effects to hold your attention, but watching movies like this gives me hope that I could someday be a Hollywood screenwriter, because apparently the ability to write is not a factor. Apparently, this film was constructed through somekind of pre-fab generic movie building blocks software program, and they forgot to add anything unique.
I will have to say though, that the most hilarious scene is when the Predator is hanging out on the homeworld, apparently relaxing on his couch, when he receives a SOS from his hunting buddies and, after a Rambo-like scene of arming himself, zips off into space. I don't know why, but the idea of the Predator just chilling on his couch cracked me up.
There are some really odd parts to this movie. For instance, apparently the military lets Soldiers take home military night vision devices to give to their kids... some kind of a post-deployment parting gift? My biggest question is why has a species that has mastered intergalatic flight not able to develop a weapon sighting/tracking system that can actually hit a creature that is moving? And why do projectiles from an energy weapon move so slow?
Watch it for the violence and gore... don't watch it because you want a story or character development!

Aliens vs Predator - Requiem
by Nightpounce (ACT, Australia)
IF you love the Aliens and Predator franchises this is worth a pickup. The extras, deleted scenes and extended movie make this an enjoyable addition to your movie collection.
Picking up from the end of the first AvP movie, the story leaves a little to be desired - A Predator ship crashes on Earth releasing its cargo of face huggers and a Predalien (Alien Queen that has gestated in a Predator) into the mountains. With a lone Hunter on his way to clean up the mess a human town is soon caught in the crossfire.
The graphics for the Aliens and Predator are good, while the humans really only feature as fodder. Not a brilliant movie but still enjoyable and worth picking up.

For those who found 2004's
Aliens vs. Predator
too lightweight in the gore-and-guns department,
Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem
offers a marked improvement in both categories, as well as a respectable amount of rumbles between the title extraterrestrials. Set in the 21st century (which predates the story to all of the
Alien
features),
Requiem
sends a crippled Predator ship crashing to Earth in a small Colorado town; unbeknownst to the locals, the craft is loaded with H.R. Giger's insectoid monsters, which make quick work of most of the population. As the human cast is slowly whittled to a few hardy (if unmemorable) souls, a Predator warrior also arrives to complicate matters and do battle with the Aliens, as well as a ferocious alien-Predator hybrid (dubbed a Predalien by the sci-fi and horror press). Visual-effects designers and music-video helmers The Strause Brothers (who make their feature directorial debut here) keep the action on frantic throughout, which is wise, since the dialogue and characters are threadbare at best; that should matter little to teenage male viewers, who are inarguably the film's key audience. Fans of the
Alien
franchise, however, may find the offhanded nod to the series' mythology given during the finale its sole saving grace. --
