5/5 The funniest, smartest show ever!!!

First of all, I can't believe this show didn't get picked up for this season!!!! Tv execs are morons. How could Earl not go for a good 10 seasons? Anyways, if you've never seen My Name Is Earl, it's about Earl (Jason Lee) who has made a list of every bad thing he's ever done, and wants to get himself some good karma by making up for his past. His dimwitted brother Randy (Ethan Suplee) is along for the ride, and these two are one of the greatest comedy/buddy teams ever. This season starts with Earl in jail (ironically for a crime that wasn't his), trying to do good deeds while he's in jail. You'd think after he gets out of jail things would go smoother for him, but no. Do yourself a favor and get season one and start from the beginning, you won't be sorry; although at the season 4 cliff-hanger we're left with no more Earl. Someone needs to fix this.......

This/these are beyond lame! The new season is all about Earl in prison. No karma nonsense, just half baked episodes about ...prison?!?!
Thank god for Jason Lee or this would really blow!

Spoiler Alert: The first two seasons are some of the best and unique tv I have seen in a while. The cliffhanger in Season 2 sees Earl taking the fall for Joy and heading to prison. Now this could possibly work but the show clearly takes a lazy turn, highlighted by a "Our Other Cops Show" extended episode that simply was not funny, shows Joy committing felonies that never calculate in her 3-strikes history, Darnell character continues to magically be a guy in the witness protection program that happens to have his whole family living in the area (and is shown twice on national tv with no consequence) and Randy becomes a prison guard that an episode before he didn't know that he needed to look before crossing the street. Overall time lines are messed up in a variety of ways.

The first two seasons were smart and heart-warming. The cliffhanger to Season 2 really made me want to see Season 3. All I can say is Earl lost it's groove and proved for me to be one of the biggest let downs I have had series-wise in a long time.

Karma intended for formulas and plots to be simple. My Name is Earl was never screened on television where I came from for a pretty good reason - the story-line was dumb, the themes confusing and too R-Rated and the episodes beginning to become too stale and painstakingly lengthy. You could sense that the writers were scrapping the bottom of the barrel when they dwelled on homosexual prisoners from rival gangs and prom night in prison. If you want to have good memories of what a great TV series this was, stay away from Season Three.

awesome! hilarious! the whole family laughs together (not typical!) for hours! we love earl. waiting for season 4 to come out ... already ordered it!
