Fun for the entire family
"Marty" (Chris Rock), "Alex" (Ben Stiller), "Gloria" (Jada Pinkett Smith) and "Melman" (David Schwimmer) are different species of animals who live at the New York City Zoo. They are best of friends who live in adjoining habitats.

Madagascar Quick Review
Badly written, bad plot and unfunny. A complete waste of talent.

Madagascar Quick Review
A very cute and fun movie. Check out the penguins, they make the whole movie!!

Madagascar Quick Review
Not quite Pixar, but Madagascar still manages to make a good animated feature. The voices are well-cast and the show is stolen by the lesser characters (a quartet of militaristic penguins and a gang of lemurs). Fun for the whole family.

Really Funny Movie for Kids
by Pamela Perry (Medford, OR)
I was a little skepital about this film until we watched it! It's really funny and keeps my small grandsons' attention for the entire DVD.

Excellent

The product and service from Amazon are excellent. I live in Germany and the service was still excellent.

Madagascar
by Frank A. DeVito (Whitestone, NY, USA)
My name is Angelina. My uncle bought the movie for me. I love this DVD. The movie is very funny and it was the first movie I ever saw in the theatre. I watch it over and over again, and it is still funny every time I watch it. I love Madagascar 2 also.

My new favorite movie
by swans6250
Mu husband and I loved it. It has kid stuff in it so they'll enjoy it but it has great references only adults will get. We laughed our heads off!

"Cracka lackin" is a derogatory term for "no whites"
by Bob Mitchell (Honolulu, Hawaii United States)
"Cracka" means "white people" and "lackin" means "there aren't any around". This expression of joy almost defines the zebra's character as he jubilates in it numerous times in the movie. This kind of racism has no place in a children's movie. Dreamworks really should have been more careful with their script.
Madagascar [Blu-ray] Summary
Bluray Disc
The penguins steal the show. In the sprightly
Madagascar
, a mid-life crisis inspires Marty the Zebra (voiced by Chris Rock) to escape from his lifelong home, a New York zoo. His equally pampered friends--Alex the Lion (Ben Stiller), Gloria the Hippo (Jada Pinkett Smith), and Melman the Giraffe (David Schwimmer)--then escape to bring him back. Unfortunately, their attempt at damage control persuades zoo officials that the animals are unhappy, so all four get shipped to an animal preserve in Kenya...only a squad of maniacal penguins change the destination to Antarctica. The quartet end up on an island where, in addition to meeting some hedonistic lemurs, they learn about the food chain--and that Alex is a different link on the chain from the other three.
Madagascar
doesn't achieve the snappy perfection of a Pixar movie, but it tops most other computer-animated efforts; the collision of friendship and predator instincts makes for an unusually gripping conflict. The vocal performances of the central characters is serviceable, but Sacha Baron Cohen (
Da Ali G Show
) provides topnotch lunacy as the lemur king, and the penguins--voiced mostly by the animators themselves--are the best thing in the movie.
