Interspecies love with an illegal alien -- questions of what constitutes identity -- the Man's desire to dissect and destroy -- this film has all the important features of an 80's sci-fi flick.

I consider "Starman" a prize-winning movie, because it was written and produced so well. You can easily put yourself in both of the main characters' shoes.

The movie was in great shape when I got it. It came in the right time-frame.

Best view of the other world I have ever seen from a totally different viewpoint.

It's ashame the military wanted to destroy verse assist the other side toward PEACE.

I'm glad he left, before it was too late.

It was an excellent movie.

The speed in which we received this dvd was WONDERFUL...and the product itself was well worth the wait!!!

... boy, does it ever! This film has been a favorite of mine from the beginning, and the only reason I am reviewing it here is because of the tepid reviews from HiDefDigest (and some others). I ordered my copy in spite of that, and lo and behold, a real gem of a transfer! The colors are beautiful with natural skin tones, and some snappy reds, like Starman's baseball cap. Quite often this film looks three dimensional, a good example is the scene with Karen Allen and Jeff Bridges in the back of a truck with a beautiful Arizona blue sky behind them. The sound is terrific with both side and back surrounds active when required (HDD thinks they are just random, whatever that means!) and the LFE cranks up for spacecraft landings and helicopter flybys! One of the clowns at HDD says this disk is for rental only; makes me wonder what kind of equipment they use over there. So, if you like this movie and want a good Blu-ray copy, then go for it!
