Forgetting Jason Segal's Marshall
To be completely honest, I went into this movie expecting to thoroughly trash it as soon as I walked out. I thought it was destined to be another cheesy rom-com with a predictable ending and terrible acting. I was wrong. Little did I kn...

Forgetting Sarah Marshall
Forgetting Sarah Marshall is another laugh out loud film from the guys who made The 40 Year Old Virgin, Knocked Up and Superbad. This one is very fun, often hilarious and pretty well acted. Jason Segel is good in his film starring role, he...

HOW TO UNLOVE
There are times when we'd beg CUPID to pull out the arrows from our heart. Can it really be done? How does one unlove someone who meant the world to him? Almost like a HOW-TO film or a comic WIKI movie that offers simple steps to "get ov...

Not bad, not great, kind of in between
Entertaining enough, there's some good laughs, the cast works pretty well together. The story is fairly predictable and I wonder if everyone at a Hawaiian hotel is as chummy as the movie portrays it to be. But it's okay for a viewing, yo...

Not good
I'm not really into US Romance/Comedy movies. The jokes were kind of okay compared to other movies in that genre and I really like Bill Hader and Mila Kunis, but except from that, this movie doesn't really stick out of the big mess of othe...

Forgetting Sarah Marshall Quick Review
Enjoyable comedy from the Apatow clan with Jason Segel as the lead schlub this time. Supporting roles from Paul Rudd, Russell Brand and Bill Hader are golden. Also, the only movie I know to feature a puppet Dracula musical.

Forgetting Sarah Marshall Quick Review
Hands Down, the funniest movie I ever saw. It is so much better than say, Eurotrip or the American Pie series!! Jason Segel was so amazing!!

Forgetting Sarah Marshall Quick Review
Above average comedy from the Apatow bunch. Not as good as his other films, but in a week 2008, especially the first half of the year, it was a decent film.

Forgetting Sarah Marshall Quick Review
This movie wasn't as funny as people made it seem and it was very predictable. It's not a bad movie, I just think it was hyped up a little too much.

SO F***ING FUNNY! This movie is fantastic. Everyone I know loves it and I love it too. It's one of my top favorites ever! I will still be watching it years from now.

Forgetting Sarah Marshall Quick Review
A solid effort all around. The characters in this film were very likable and caring. The adult humor that was thrown in was worth the price. Mila Kunis is a fine looking and acting actress. I hope she is in more movies. Good.

Apatos produces another funny one.

A funny movie that brings russel brand to the masses and it's funny from start to finish.

funny movie

Have watched a lot of comedies recently that didn't keep my attention but the time flew with this movie. Great characters, funny lines (I'm still quoting some), and an excellent cast. Highly recommend.

Huh ???
by T. Lewis (Ipswich, MA USA)
I simply cannot believe how the critics frothed over this unfunny garbage. I felt so ripped off that I decided I would boycott that movie review TV show 'At The Movies' --- they couldn't praise this movie enough. Both my girlfriend and I almost walked out of the theater, but we stuck it out. When the credits rolled we both looked at each other like, "Huh???"

Breaking with Conventions
by Thiago Sardenberg (Brazil)
I thought this movie was actually interesting since it twisted a lot of conventions we usually have in a romantic comedy.
First of all, the guy is the one who has to deal with being rejected as he finds himself totally lost after the break up. I guess it made a lot of dudes out there uncomfortable to see how he deals with it-- maybe because it rang a bit more true than most would like to admit? One can only wonder.
(Spoilers ahead). The guy also doesn't 'get' the girl in the end-- he gets a girl, but not the one he had been in love with. It was his choice, mostly, though, and that felt natural. In a 'regular' romcom, he would most likely get back with his old love, otherwise, the audience would feel 'frustrated'. As if!
And yet, we get to actually like the character of the ex-girlfriend, Sarah Marshall. Maybe not so much as 'like', but we... 'get' her. We understand she's not a [...]. It would be so easy to make her evil so that we wouldn't like her. But life is always more complicated than that, isn't it?
Sarah's new boyfriend, for example, is a 'bit' crazy, but there are positive things you can point out on him. Things don't go the easy way in the movie.
Also, and maybe the most shocking for the guys, it's not the girls we see naked all the time (though there are [...] shown in the movie) - but it is our main guy, who shows his [...] a couple of times during the beginning and the end.
First of all, I say 'bring it' just because it's a sort of subversion of the conventions, and with so much commonplace everywhere, i'm definitely up for that. BUT, there's intention beyond that.
The first time it happens, that was precisely how he felt when his girlfriend was dumping him - unprotected, naked. When it happens again, in the end, he is naked as he prepares for a new relationship. It's come full circle. Of course, some people are way too 'distracted' to even think about any possible symbolic meaning for that.
Overall, very nice movie; and given its purpose, I guess it's very sucessful. It's quite funny.
Forgetting Sarah Marshall (Unrated Widescreen Edition) Summary
Dvd
Breaking up is hard to do--but that doesn't mean you can't have some belly laughs about it.
Forgetting Sarah Marshall
provides that rare treat: a romantic comedy about breakups, that is both romantic and funny. The laughs, especially from writer-star Jason Segel, are both heartfelt and raunchy, and the film is just unexpected enough that it keeps the viewer's attention till the end. The touches of producer Judd Apatow, who's famously retooled rom-coms to appeal to guys as much as women, are woven throughout the film, but Segel's script, reportedly based on many of his own experiences, is fresh and original. And adult.
Forgetting Sarah Marshall
features male genitalia laffs presented in unexpected and human ways (the nude breakup scene is played for giggles but also deep poignancy), and the language and sex scenes are strictly for grownups--and rightly so. Segel's script, and his performance as Peter, show that he understands the true nature of adult re! lationships, which provides the refreshing difference between this film and some of Apatow's other crude creations. The cast is sublime; Kristen Bell (
Veronica Mars
) plays title character Sarah, a self-absorbed actress, and Russell Brand is her new British honey who accompanies her to--what are the chances?--the exact same Hawaiian resort as Peter, who's nursing his broken heart. Mila Kunis plays Rachel, the resort employee who gives Peter a reason to hope, and Paul Rudd is the surfing instructor who gives him his own brand of heartfelt advice ("When life gives you lemons, just say 'F--- the lemons' and bail," he says cheerily). The pacing is screwball, and the absurdities fly (a "Dracula" musical puppet show, and a surprisingly lovely Hawaiian version of "Nothing Compares 2 U"). Nothing the viewer will forget any time soon.--
