Waterworld Quick Review
Nothing about this movie is good. Nothing.

Waterworld Quick Review
Known more for its incredible budget and under-performance, Waterworld isn't the complete turkey people make it out to be. It's not spectacular, but at least it's original and interesting. It could have benefited from a 30-minute cut.

Waterworld Quick Review
Interesting plot can't carry dumb action scenes throughout the movie. The amazing part about this film is that they spent 175 million to make this movie and grossed under 100 million. What a waste.

Waterworld Quick Review
I like this movie because it has an original story and some tiny details that make me believe. Hopper is a hoot and Costner is above average. With some good action sequences and some interesting characters, it out ways it's down parts.

Good movie
by J. Medero (Miami, FL)
Interesting idea, our world covered by endless oceans due to global warming. People somehow surviving in a world like that. A few flaws, like wooden boats and towns ... where's the trees? But still beautiful underwater scenes.
Kevin is his normal Quiet Hero self, and Dennis Hopper is hilarious as the villian. A good movie that got horrible reviews that it didn't deserve. Well worth watching.

Splash your cash
by HOLLYWOOD (UK)
If you are a fan of Waterworld then this is a must buy as not only do you get the original theatrical cut but also the extended version which i must say made a lot more sense to the story telling & fills in some of the gaps that the original had not to mention you get more of James Newton Howard's music score which I also hope gets a future release

Under-Rated and Maligned, but a Great Action Movie
by Glenn Gallagher (Sacramento, CA)
I am pleasantly surprised to see I am not the only person who immensely enjoyed Waterworld, the unfairly maligned diamond in the rough that was almost universally panned when it was first released. To me, the film is essentially The Road Warrior on water instead of the desert. However, just because it copies the formula on another great post-apocalyptic action thriller, in no way diminishes the entertainment value. The film does have some logical gaps, and the acting by Costner is a little flat, but the film works for me within the realm of its own world - it is possible that with the world covered by water, and very few people left, there could be a dichotomy of civilizations remaining. The atoll people would live a meager existence, in an almost sustainable fashion, while the smokers are living a dead-end lifestyle that's fueled by the remnants of the past: canned food, Jack Daniels, cigarettes, and a dwindling supply of oil in an ancient tanker.
This film is a lot of fun, don't let the bad press keep you from this unfairly maligned film.
Waterworld (2-Disc Extended Edition) Summary
Studio: Uni Dist Corp. (mca) Release Date: 11/04/2008
Let's be honest: this 1995 epic isn't nearly as bad as its negative publicity led us to expect. At the time it was the most expensive Hollywood production in history (it had a
Titanic
-sized $200 million budget), and the film arrived in theaters with so much controversy and negative gossip that it was an easy target for ridicule. The movie itself, a flawed but enjoyable post-apocalypse thriller, deserves better.
Waterworld
stars Kevin Costner as the Mariner, a lone maverick with gills and webbed feet who navigates the endless seas of Earth after the complete melting of the polar ice caps. The Mariner has been caged like a criminal when he's freed by Helen (Jeanne Tripplehorn) and enlisted to help her and a young girl (Tina Majorino) escape from the Smokers, a group of renegade terrorists led by Dennis Hopper in yet another memorably villainous role. It is too bad the predictable script isn't more intelligent, but as a companion piece to
The Road Warrior
, this seafaring stunt-fest is adequately impressive.
