    5/5 An outstanding presentation of British humor will keep viewers laughing

    Jeeves and Wooster: The Complete Series is a top pick for any who enjoy British mystery and humor, providing a fine collection telling of British aristocrat and bumbler Bernie and Jeeves, his hilarious resourceful valet who keeps him out of trouble. An outstanding presentation of British humor will keep viewers laughing.

    4/5 Jeeves & Wooster Spoof the Upper Classes

    One has to be a Anglophile to truly enjoy this, mostly because of the sound track. Half the humor could be lost, and that is a shame, if one is not familiar with the Brits mannerisms and phrasings. That being said, even half of the humor far exceeds that of anything produced for American television audiences in the past 25 years. Add the exquisite scenery and antique furnishings, and you have several hours of enjoyment. (And need I mention, with no inane commercials to suffer through!!)

    A perfect edition. Subtitles a big plus.
    A big fan of PLUM since I was a boy... half a century away I guess...
    For those who complain about the USA episodes... better read the complete works... Wooster&Jeeves had to escape there from the wrath of aunts (mainly Aunt Agatha)... and they are part of Modern Classical Literature (farcical) nowadays... and not at all a marketing plot to sell the series in the USA.
    Check the listmania "The Complete Jeeves&Wooster (in order of publication)" to know about the books... a must read sometime.
    The only thing missing in this wonderful TV series is the masterfull prose of the author... perhaps a narrator's voice could have been introduced in some parts... but I doubt they tried that...

    Great comedy by Laurie and Fry. They do a tremendous job of portraying the characters true to Wodehouse's books, thus bringing the viewer back to a very different time and place in history, when life was very lighthearted and fun for many.

    This is the entire Jeeves and Wooster series. Every episode is a gem. If you like british comedy, this is a must have.

    Fans of Hugh Laurie's prickly, sardonic House character may not realize that Laurie started as a slapstick comedian of the most British type: Veddy, veddy silly. And nowhere has Laurie been sillier, or more divine, than as Bertie Wooster in Jeeves & Wooster, the British TV series based on the famed P.G. Wodehouse characters. Playing off Laurie is the equally splendid Stephen Fry (a longtime Laurie pal and co-star) as the arch and supremely competent valet Jeeves. The two create a winning, hilarious pair of tour guides into the rarified world of early-20th-century upper-crust England. Bertie is kind-hearted and a soft touch, and, well, not exactly street smart. When Bertie's Aunt Agatha ("the nephew-crusher") decides he must be groomed to be a proper prospective husband for a proper well-off young lady, Bertie snaps, "I don't want to be molded, I'm not a jelly!" Auntie: "That's a matter of opinion. Dear." Happily, Jeeves is there to anticipate the worst of Bertie's mishaps (usually involving alcohol) and to find creative ways to bail him out. Fry is deadpan and delightful playing Jeeves, and Laurie is a revelation to any comedy fan who's only experienced him as House. The Wodehouse dialogue is preserved in all its exquisite tossed-away glory. Bertie's short chat with a barkeep doing renovations contains this small gem, from the musing pubman: "Well, they can't abide mooses, the committee can't." It's all about softening that stiff upper lip--and in this, Jeeves & Wooster succeeds brilliantly.--A.T. Hurley
