One Cool flick
by Aaron C. Morris (Sauk Village, Illinois)
I really enjoyed this one . It must have been hidden in the back of the shelf. It is a winner.

Not up to Val's talents
by Denise J. Murray
The film starts out with an overview and reminder of how devastating Katrina was. The characters are not well fleshed out, with the exception of Andy and even then it doesn't dig real deep into who he is. It is extremely violent and without the F bomb the dialog would be pretty sparce. It did paint a nightmarish picture of the control that the gangs had on the city, and the means that the cops had to employ to try and keep it under as much control as they could. With the kind of violence that the gangs were involved in the film could have made a strong statement against disarming the citizens when they needed self protection the most. There was so much mishandling of the events after Katrina that contributed to the violence and desperation of the citizens. Some of the violence seems gratuitous but typical Hollywood. I think Val Kilmer did the best he could with what he had but it was definately not up to his talent. Andy is kind of a tragic character trying to live up to the image of his dad and avenge his death with every collar, at what seems to be at the expense of a life. Sharon Stone was so-so and the rest were okey.
If you are a Kilmer fan, get it. If you are into extreme violence and language you'll like it.

One of the worst movies I've seen this year
by z hayes (plano,texas)
The only reason I picked this movie up was because of some of the familiar names in it [Val Kilmer, Sharon Stone, Michael Biehn, admittedly not A-listers, but nevertheless], and also the fact that it is set in post-Hurricane Katrina New Orleans. The movie begins with actual news footage of New Orleans after Katrina wreaked havoc on it. The story - a couple of months after Katrina, New Orleans is portrayed as a city crippled by drug wars, with a bunch of cops, both crooked and good, and also the FBI trying to set the city right. Val Kilmer and Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson play the good cops who are trying hard to fight back against the bad cops. Michael Biehn plays an FBI agent who is also in on the action, and Sharon Stone portrays a police shrink trying to get into the minds of both the good and bad cops.
Sounds pretty straightforward right? Well, there is so much wrong with this movie that it really defies explanation - there is no fleshing out of characters in this movie, the characters are all one-dimensional, good cops are good and bad cops are bad. The acting is below average, and Sharon Stone is totally wasted in her role, with an annoying and less than credible Cajun accent to boot, which she sheds and uses at will. Val Kilmer seems totally unconvincing in his role, and just appears to be spouting his lines with no conviction whatsoever [watch "Felon" instead for a great acting job by Kilmer], and "50 Cent" just seems lost.
The action seems to be there just for the sake of it, and the violence is gratutious - there is simply no rhyme or reason for some of the scenes in this movie. The cinematography is awful, with out of place shots that do nothing to help viewers figure the plot. This would be a great example of what not to do in filmmaking class!Oh, there are no extras either. Final verdict - awful mess of a movie. I'm glad it was just a rental. Skip it!

Fat Val Is a Cajun
by john m mozuke
Fat Val gets a payday and stoops to working with bucktoothed non acting Fitty Cent. Sharon Stone still looks good but doesn't have much to do. This movie is really crappy. The story of corruption in New Orleans and the post Katrina atmosphere would be a good backdrop for a story but this is garbage.
