Worth watching once
by reviewer
I found that the content of this video was not new or different from what I have already read/learned. I was disappointed because I thought that there would be new information or information to help me deal with "the shadow". I do not regret watching it--however, i would have been much happier if i rented it or borrowed it.
For people who are unaware of "the shadow"--this is a great introduction and very user friendly. I would highly, highly recommend it to people just starting out.

A shallow Infomercial, don't waste your $ - too bad I can't put Zero Stars!
by In Reality (LA CA)
I wasted $23 (DVD, S+H) for a shallow infomercial with almost no information, this was just a commercial for Debbie Ford's classes. It is not exactly a revelation that we have a "dark side." Plenty of other new-agy cliches await on the DVD - like you project onto others what you don't like about yourself - WOW - never thought of that! ! And the production was so cheesy; stupid re-enactments and truly overbearing corny music blasting through the entire thing. The music is what made the whole DVD seem somewhat humorous, since every sad story was accompanied by truly corny music, every triumph accompanied be corny triumphant music. The filmmakers knew they had nothing and so they thought they would fool people into thinking they were actually seeing something by putting in really loud self important music. The music attempts to "project" what we are supposed to feel, talk about "projecting! There was nothing to this movie - what a waste, don't waste your money!

Great Find!
by A. T. Brett (los angeles)
I really liked the Interactive portion of The Shadow Effect. Debbie speaks in a clear, articulate way that really helps you along with the themes in the movie if this kind of self reflection is new to you. I also really enjoyed the parts with Deepak Chopra and Marianne Williamson. They were both inspirational and presented the information in a way thatw as easy to understand. It is interesting to think that what holds so many of us back in our lives is trying to cover up all of the characteristics we don't like about ourselves or our "shadows". I definitely want to learn more about The Shadow Effect as Debbie calls it after watching this movie.

What Shadow Effect?!
by C. Vernon (Sherman Oaks, CA United States)
This is one of the worst and boring DVDs I have ever watched. I own many, many self-help and motivational books, CDs and videos, but I don't get the point of this one. The information is so extremely basic and illogical, and presented in such a boring and monotone manner, it should be titled Motivation for Dummies! I couldn't bring myself to watch the whole thing, it is so boring. Debbie Ford speaks without passion or emotion, and very robot-like, as if she doesn't really believe her own production, and she appears plastic and phoney. The only two commentators to add some interest, intelligence, spark and passion to this presentation are Marianne Williamson and James Van Praagh. Forget the rest! Even Deepak Chopra comes off as forced and boring here. This DVD really doesn't deserve any star at all, it is that bad. It ended up in my Salvation Army pile. I learned absolutely nothing, nada, zilch, zero from this! What a waste of $$.

Open a door for the part that you want to hide.
by M. V. M. Hertzsch
I enjoyed the movie and the guided work to find a shadow inside you was very helpful. The only thing I would suggest is to include subtitles in other languages, so that more people can benefit from this experience!
