Reqieum for Every Character's Dreams
Second attempt watching it. First rating: 2/10, Second Rating: 3.5/10 It was like a TV movie and was very effective. I was crying by the end, but still it's hard to watch. Ellen Burstyn is an amazing actress. The artist who made-up Jared L...

Big Surprise finds itself at #30.....
Controversial because of its nature, it is how far the superb cast and director Darren Aronofsky dare to go that makes this one of the most alluring and electrifying movies I have ever seen. Jared Leto, Ellen Burstyn, Jennifer Connelly and...

Requiem For A Dream
Requiem For a Dream is a really raw drama, about four people trying to cope with a drug addiction. I think that the old lady, unknowing to the fact she is addicted to speed, is the most controversial, with her hallucinations being creepy a...

A raw look at the effects of drug addiction.
Requiem For a Dream is a superb film all around. The story revolves around four central characters, all dealing with drug addiction in their own way. The style of filming was unique and perfect for this movie. Marlon Wayans played his r...

Requiem for a Dream Quick Review
You can try to put a positive spin on addiction, even make it cool - then you can watch Requiem for a Dream and come back to reality. This should also be shown in every school. It's depressing, yes, but that's the whole point.

Requiem for a Dream Quick Review
Music, plot, cinematography...all perfect. Every teenager/college student should see this movie in a class, as to what not to do with their life! One of the best ever made.

About this Blu-Ray...
by M. Adkins (Eugene, OR)
First of all, this really is a stunning, staggering, heart-wrenching film. It's sad and beautiful world (as Jim Jarmusch might say) full of flawed characters, and Ellen Burstyn was magnificent. That Julia Roberts won Best Actress over her is a crime against decent film-lovers everywhere. But be fore-warned: Based on the novel by Hubert Selby, this is NOT a plucky, feel-good experience. It's overwhelmingly raw, and probably not for all tastes ( I'm looking at you, Norbit fans)
But, as for this disc: Here is a prime example of why people bother upgrading their media to the latest-and-greatest format. Daily, I have to fight the urge to waste money on new versions of movies I already own (& I did already own the fine Requiem for a Dream (Director's Cut) DVD of this), but I couldn't resist a film that looks and sounds this good. [Side note: The Kronos Quartet soundtrack is spectacular.]
If you've already got the setup (HDTV or projector, sound system, etc) than you can do a lot worse. And for even more eye-candy, give The Fountain a try.

A great movie!
by Daniel Riofrio (Albuquerque, NM USA)
Despite of the raw content of the movie, I give this movie 5 stars because the director of the film is able to show the underground world where people may be left while consuming any kind of drugs. It is dramatic, powerful, sad and shocking.
Furthermore, blu-ray movies are the only way to watch movies at home. Therefore, Requiem for a Dream is a highly recommended movie and its quality just awesome.

RELAX AND ENJOY A SUPERB MOVIE
by J. Molinari (Staten Island, NY)
This outstanding piece of art should be seen by every teen thinking of escaping into some placating world away from a disturbing environment they call reality. I wish I had when I was younger. Do not try to figure out what to expect, do not dissect every frame with pompous imaginings like some viewers and commenters like MauricioD. He seems to be obsessed with his definition of surrealism. I'm sure Aronofsky didn't look in a dictionary to mold his movie or to be weighed down by a definition. Surreal is in the eyes of the beholder. Just sit back and be mesmerized by a well-woven story with a powerful message. It will blow you away! It's worth 3 times the price. I recently purchased a second copy to give to my 15-yr old nephew, and we will sit down and have a long talk afterwards.

Great movie, Great quality
by Jonathan C. Hughley (IL)
If you haven't seen this movie, you should. It's pretty deep. Seeing it again on Blu-ray makes it that much more intense.

Fantastic Movie
by Alexis Carrillo
Requiem for a Dream is the movie I saw when I was younger that was such a great movie and also an advocate to not do drugs. This is the kind of movie they should show in schools to deter them from choosing the druggy lifestyle.
