Catwoman Quick Review
POOOOP! Fodder! Nonsense!

Catwoman Quick Review
I don't know what Halle Berry was thinking, but someone needs to knock some sense into the woman. She looks great - but that's about the only good thing about Catwoman, and it just ain't enough anymore.

Catwoman - won't give you hairballs
by Carl the Viking (Tucson, AZ USA)
Perhaps the weak plot, the hackneyed characters and the stiff dialogue were factors in the common opinion that this was one of the worst superhero movies of its time but 'Catwoman' is not without its selling points either. Here are some:
1. Halle Berry looks good in a tight cat suit.
2. Lambert Wilson gets to play a snooty and unscrupulous executive...which is a bit of a stretch for him, right? Right? ...oh.
3. The DVD makes a good drink coaster so you won't get rings on your coffee table.
4. If you ever get stranded at sea, the reflective DVD can be used to signal passing ships.
5. If you don't own a protractor, the DVD can be used to trace a perfect circle.
6. For the price of one penny, "Catwoman" is an affordable purchase in todays tough economy.
7. Too few superhero movies have any appeal to cat lovers but not THIS one.
8. Provides proof for the theory that Sharon Stone can only be killed by falling off a skyscraper.
9. Willy Wonka might have hidden a "Golden Ticket" in the Catwoman DVD you buy.
10. Halle Berry looks good in a tight cat suit.

Amazing !
by Erik Schacke (Denmark)
Totally underrated movie. Watch it on bluray on a 90 inches screen, it's looks fantastic ! The effects are awesome, Halle Berry superb and super good looking, and the story holds all the way for that kind of movie. Furthermore pretty funny also.. I think people totally misundestand this movie and don't take it for what it is. I was sitting back with a feeling of I'd really like to see a sequel but I guess thats not gonna happen since it's gotten all this bad critics.. If you have a good large HD screen, or like Halle Berry a little bit don't hesitate to buy it on bluray, it's amazing !

Blu Ray is good
by R. Pandolfo (Lehigh Valley, PA.)
I would give the original DVD 2 stars at best, this is a pretty ordinary super hero movie, but the blu ray version looks great. Halle Berry looks great in the catsuit, the photography and some of the shots are great. All in all, a nice guilty pleasure if you like comic book superhero movies.

Entertaining, but not for hardcore Super-hero fans
by Patrick Sayet (Cermont-Ferrand, FRANCE)
Yes, I like this movie.
No point here for me to defend the story/acting as it's personal taste. But I like very much how Pitof moves the camera, mostly during wide shots where the movement is quite eerie and gives nice display of the town by night ; he also has good ideas to switch from one scene to another (ex : the broken glass in the jewelry switching to the stolen jewels on Patience's bed).
Picture quality : 4.5/5
The colors are incredibly strong for a movie mostly shot at night. They're not bleeding and look very life like. Movement (sometimes very fast) seems fluid, light to dark scenes looks natural. Some CGIs (the cat resurrecting Prudence) seem a bit awkward, but it doesn't come from the trasfer, but from the film itself (didn't recognise any other CGI so they're not that bad.
Audio quality : 3/5
I'm not impressed by the audio quality, of course no explosions, roars of motors, elaborate music so it's quite difficult to judge only everiday life sounds. They feel realistic enough, but there's not much 3D dimension to sound.
Bonus features : 3/5
Deleted scenes, featurettes, trailers, quite the usual.

Catwoman: Blu-ray Review
by Christopher R. Smith
The superhero movie, "Catwoman," now out on Blu-ray disc, is a vain, choppy mess filled with unintentional laughs and groan-worthy moments that scrape bottom.
This over-the-top extravaganza (and it must be viewed that way in order to enjoy it) also is laced with sharp one-liners, style and sex appeal. Mix it all together, and what's left in the litter is a bizarre movie that essentially is camp on a catnip high.
The film stars Halle Berry as Catwoman and Sharon Stone as the castrating witch out to 86 her nine lives. Stone is Laurel Hedare, an evil, aging supermodel with a blonde fright wig, glam clothes and a leggy strut who will go to any lengths to skirt a wrinkle.
At a time when youth and beauty are increasingly valued over age and experience, it's tough to blame Laurel for trying to stay young, particularly when what's at stake here is a beauty cream that's so powerful, it can turn one's skin into uncrackable marble - as it has done for Laurel.
For unwitting consumers, the problem is that the cream is highly toxic, a truth Laurel's husband, the cosmetics giant George Hedare (Lambert Wilson), would rather cover with one of his concealers.
What he and Laurel don't want anyone to know is that once the cream is applied, it must be used for life. Otherwise, the moment one stops using it, there isn't enough Botox in the world to repair the sagging damage.
The film's first third is shaky and awkward, chronicling how Berry's bumbling Patience Philips, a shy graphic designer who works for Laurel and George, becomes the outrageously confident Catwoman. That's just how I'll leave it for you, but the good news is that the movie recovers, with Patience trying to learn what it means to be Catwoman, which includes wielding a whip and wearing a push-up bra.
Her love interest in the movie is policeman Tom Lone (Benjamin Bratt), who joins a long line of superhero suitors in that he initially has no clue that his intended has the most unusual of side jobs. Together, there is a snap of chemistry between Berry and Bratt - they look great together - though the film's quick-cut editing undermines that whenever it can. It doesn't allow us to linger on them.
Since "Catwoman" would be lacking without a cat fight between Berry and Stone, Pitof delivers in the final moments. These two just don't go after each other with their claws and fists, but with a string of quick, funny retorts that blister the screen.
That gets to the real strength of "Catwoman." Some of the dialogue is genuinely clever, such as when Catwoman enters a disco in her full dominatrix leather drag, her whip swirling in the air around her, and asks the bartender for "a white Russian - hold the vodka, hold the Kahlua." Considering the suggestive way she licks the milk mustache from her lips, it's surprising this movie wasn't scratched with an R rating.
This is widely considered a terrible movie, but if you enjoy the camp genre, it's a must-see.

For a certain segment of the population, the vision of Halle Berry in shredded skin-tight leather is reason enough to see
Catwoman
. As Patience Philips, Berry plays a mousy graphic designer for a cosmetics company who learns a little too much about her employer's new beauty cream and gets flushed down a waste-disposal pipe. A supernatural cat brings Patience back to life and brings up a new persona from the depths of her psyche; soon she's bounding around fire escapes, cracking a whip, and getting framed for a couple of murders by a villainous ex-supermodel (Sharon Stone,

,
Basic Instinct
