Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix
by Race (Florida)
It's a really good score, only wish it had more of Hedwig's Theme. I think this score is much better than The Half Blood Prince score. Personaly I wish John Williams would have composed the entire Harry Potter series.Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix

Great Album, But Too Short!
by Jokerman (Gotham)
i think hooper did a great job with this score. it's noy my favorite, but it's pretty damn good. a number of tracks REALLY stand out. the only problem i have with it really is...why so short? 51 minutes of score out of a 2 1/2 film, with..probably almost two hours of music doesn't cut it. great music, but more should have been on here. they definately could have added at least ten more minutes of music to the CD. all in all, i wouild reccommend this to anyone who likes film scores, but beware of the short runtime.

The Actual Track Order
by K. Brinkert (Fullerton, CA)
After comparing this CD to my DVD copy of the film, this is the order that I came up with. Unfortunately not all of the film music is offered on this CD. You don't even get the ending credits or any of Luna's music. Many of the pieces are not even identical to what is found in the film (i.e. the 'Fireworks' track is what you find in the ending credits instead of when the twins set off their fireworks during the OWL examination and 'Darkness Takes Over' is presented backwards.)
1. Another Story
2. Dementors in the Underpass
3. Flight of the Order of the Phoenix
4. The Ministry of Magic
5. A Journey to Hogwarts
6. Umbridge Spoils a Beautiful Morning
7. Professor Umbridge
8. The Sacking of Trelawney
9. Dumbledore's Army
10. The Room of Requirements
11. The Kiss
12. Darkness Takes Over
13. Fireworks
14. The Sirius Deception
15. The Hall of Prophecies
16. Death of Sirius
17. Possession
18. Loved Ones and Leaving
Overall I love the music, but this CD leaves loads to be desired. They need to redo it with ALL the film music and in the correct order. Funny thing is this CD has only 18 tracks but the CD for 'Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince' contains 28 tracks. Did they learn their leason?

Good Despite its still not John Williams
by Erik Anderson (Chicago, IL)
I am hoping that John Williams returns to score future Harry Potter movie's but I won't hold my breath.
As for this soundtrack it was better than I expected from someone that has never written a score for a feature movie. I thought the themes were fun and light but it lacked something. I am unsure what that something is but after I listen to it I am left feeling something is missing.
One thing that bothered me a little what that there was no thought to the order of the tracks. I mean starting out with the song "Fireworks" and "Professor Umbridge" and then starting with the intro song "Another Story". The whole soundtrack seemed to be out of order and needs to be reshuffled.

This is the weakest Harry Potter score by far!
by Filmmusik-Fan (Wien)
John Williams has composed 3 wonderful scores for the Harry Potter movies and Patrick Doyle did a quite good job as well.
But Nicholas Hooper has delivered for "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix" a boring and weak score.
Listen to the much more creative Harry Potter Game score from James Hannigan and you will see how the music could sound like for this movie:

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix Summary
Featuring A Colorful And Inspiring Score By Nicholas Hooper, The Soundtrack To Harry Potter And The Order Of The Phoenix Takes The Movie-goer To The Next Level Of Magical Enchantment Right Along With Harry And His Friends.
For its fifth cinematic installment, the
Harry Potter
franchise gets a new composer as England's Nicholas Hooper (a usual collaborator of new director David Yates) succeeds Patrick Doyle and John Williams. The screeching electric guitar that suddenly irrupts on the very first track, "Fireworks," lets the listener know that all is not quiet on the Hogwarts front. The kiddies are growing up, evil is spreading: which is worse?! But actually this modern sonic touch is deceiving: Hooper works within an old-school format and mostly sticks to tried-and-true effects. His score is best when it goes for tension and unease, particularly in its use of low, rumbling tones: A choir starts by humming in a menacing manner in "Dementors in the Underpass"; the sound at the beginning of "The Death of Sirius" feels as if it's being belched out from some deep, dark, scary place, creating an effective atmosphere of dread. Elsewhere, the beginning of "Possession" feels as if it belongs in a J-horror movie, and then the track becomes deceptively calm before the storm hits again. Keen listeners will recognize Williams' "Hedwig's Theme" in "Another Story," but mostly Hooper is his own man. Just like the overall series, which gets darker and darker as it goes along, this CD makes for a rather brooding listening experience--the pizzicato violins on "Umbridge Spoils a Beautiful Morning" provide one of the few jaunty touches.
