Run of the Mill
by Samantha Kelley (USA)
In Love With Life is a 1930s programmer film with a predictable plot and forgotten cast. Sharon (Lila Lee) is a single mother who no longer can support her son (Dickie Moore) properly. She seeks refuge with her estranged father (Claude Gillingwater) who agrees to take the boy but only if she agrees never to see him again. She reluctantly gives him up, but makes arrangement with Laury's tutor (Onslow Stevens) to recieve messages about her son. The stock market crash throws a wrench into the situation when her father loses all he has.
Moore is possibly the best part of the film, aside from the strange rich kid entertainment palace complete with airplane swings and a child version of Betty Boop. The relationships between the characters is shallow so the emotional impact is strictly surface.
Unfortunately, the print is not in the best condition. It is clearer than many prints of this caliber but it is covered in artifacts and the soundtrack leaves a lot to be desired. There are many times when the audio jumps and cuts off a line or even just a few words. Those missing pieces add up and sometimes ruin jokes or heartfelt scenes.

My Girlfriend Loved It
by Bart (Montpellier, France)
This movie was a bit girly for my tastes, but my girlfriend thought it was great and has lent it to several of her female friends so I reccomend it as a good film to get your wife or lady for a present. It's all about a woman who is desperate to reunite with her child and she's willing to do anything, and I mean anything to make it happen. The acting is good and the film quality is exceptional.

An Inspiring Movie
by jen
This is a chick flick, but I'm a chick and I liked it. It tells the story of a mother who overcomes every roadblock possible to reunite with her long lost son. It's really a weeper - and I was brought to tears with the ending when they finally reunite. This is the type of movie you want to watch with your girlfriends when the boys are not around. It reminded me a lot of "Beaches" and "Terms of Endearment."

I hope they never remake this one - it cannot be improved upon...
by Sheena Hawthorne (Elgin, ILLINOIS)
''In Love with Life' is an unforgettable old movie and has touched me to the core. The Dickensian overtones are especially appealing. Lila Lee and Dickie Moore are totally convincing in their pathos-filled roles. I hope they never remake this one - it cannot be improved upon....''
In Love with Life (1934) [Remastered Edition] Summary
Professor John Sylvestus Applegate (Onslow Stevens) has been dismissed from his college teaching position for objecting too loudly to the predominant part that football and other sports play in the curriculum, and soon finds himself dead broke when publishers show no interest in the dry material he brings to them. He meets a young boy, Laury (Dickie Moore) and his mother, Sharon (Lila Lee) in the park and is quite taken with them. He gets a job-prospect letter, as a private tutor, and applies at once. His employer is Mr. Morley (Claude Gillingwater), a surly, sour, mean-tempered old man who informs John he is to act as a tutor for his grandson, who turns out to be Laury. Sharon, Morleys daughter had eloped against her father's wishes and was abandoned by her husband after Laury's birth. Written by Les Adams {longhorn3708@windstream.net}
