It's a Big, Big, World - You Can Do It Summary

It’s a Big Big World, created by three-time Emmy®-winner Mitchell Kriegman, is set in a lush rainforest, where Snook, a giant dancing sloth, lives in the World Tree with his diverse group of animal friends. Together they investigate the world around them and learn about science, nature, and environmental stewardship.

It’s a Big Big World - You Can Do It! looks at the different talents and abilities of the animals in the World Tree.

The Five Senses: Smooch and Winslow have just learned about the five senses from Snook when they run into Bob, who heard a scary noise the night before. Smooch uses all of her senses to help Bob discover the source of the noise, which turns out to be coming from a sleeping (and snoring!) Oko.

Spinning a Tale: When Bob and Wartz find a spider web, they decide that if a little spider can make a web to catch flies to eat, they can make a "frog web" to catch flies for Wartz. But, after weaving their web of vines, the only things they catch are Smooch and Winslow! Finally, Snook explains that spinning webs is a special ability that spiders have, and Wartz decides he’d better stick to catching flies like a frog – with his tongue.

Learning To Fly: Winslow is determined to become the first marmoset to fly, ignoring everyone who tells him it’s impossible. He flaps his arms as hard as he can, but after he has no luck getting off the ground in a flying contest with Burdette, he has to accept the fact that he never will be able to fly like a bird. After Snook explains the biological differences between birds and marmosets, Winslow realizes that everyone has their own way of getting around and flying like a monkey (by swinging on vines) can be pretty fun too.

Echoes: Bob is on Broken Branch Leap calling out to the ants and is startled when a voice calls back to him. He gets more nervous when the voice repeats everything he says, and even says that its name is Bob! Bob and Wartz visit Madge and Snook to tell them about this other Bob. They are relieved to learn that what they heard was only an echo and they go back to Broken Branch Leap with Snook and have some fun listening for echoes.

In Good Voice: As Snook and Bob are imitating different animal sounds, they learn that Oko has a case of laryngitis. Bob is worried that Oko won’t be able to make his nightly howl to help the animals fall asleep, so he goes off in search of another animal that can make the sound. But when Bob can’t find anyone to do it, Snook reminds him how good he is at mimicking animal sounds, and as night falls, Bob does a wonderful imitation of Oko.
