Marley and Anyone But Me
It would take a dog fanatic (and you know who you are) to love this romantic comedy cum household horror fantasy that is centered around a hyperkinetic canine. Frenzied is not too strong a term to describe the exaggerations of pet behavior...

Marley's a Good Dog
There is sad and then there is Marley sad. Most sad movies don't affect me that much, but this one really was over the top. By the time I left the theater, the small crowd of 8 that went to see it was all in tears.
It was the story of ...

The world's worst dog
The book Marley and Me is oftentimes referred to as a book chronicling stories about a misbehaved dog. However, if you dig a little bit deeper, the book focuses on how one dog affects a couple, prepares them for a family, and how uncondit...

Instant Classic!!!
Marley & Me is a instant classic. Director David Frankel outdoes himself. Owen Wilson shows that he is one truly great actor with his performance in this movie. This is real life stuff acted out so naturally on the big screen. Owen Wilson ...

Marley an Me
by Carol Schlotterbeck (Kokomo, IN)
My daughter viewed this film and said it was great. I will watch it over Christmas break. I have raised several "bad" dogs, but none probably as into mischief as Marley.

Cute-movie, not really family-movie...
by
I read "Marley & Me" in the 6th grade, and I adored it. I was pleased to hear that a movie based upon the book was being released, but because my softie mom (who hates seeing animals die) and cat-lover dad (who would never dream of going to the silver screen to see this) didn't take me, I had no choice but to wait the prompt four or so months until the movie came onto DVD.
So I finally got my hands on this, well, puppy, and settled down to watch it. You most likely know exactly what it's about, so I won't waste your time with that. Basically, if I was wrong and you haven't seen or read it yet, it's about a newly married couple who start their family off with a cute little puppy- Marley.
Given, the movie is a tad bit plotless- I mean, it's sweet and charming and all, but there's no real problem until the last twenty minutes. There's just a big, yellow, lovable nuisance who creates amusing havoc, based upon a real story. But brainless plot and all, it was casted well enough, and though I don't directly recall it, I probably said "awww" more than once, so that's a keeper. But what surprised me was how this movie is rated PG when honestly it should be PG-13. While I was watching this alone, I kept saying how grateful I was, in the end, that my parents didn't take me to see this. I mean, imagine watching a sex scene with your dad to your right? Downright wrong.
So there's some stuff that probably should have been left out if the director had wanted a true PG-rated movie, but clearly that wasn't in mind, so I'm good with it. But perhaps the best thing of this movie is not the dogs, or the cute Owen Wilson, or even the good old Allen Arkin making an amusing yet brief performance, but the ending.
Yeah, I know that sounds totally harsh, since the dog dies in the end (sorry if you didn't know that yet; it was totally obvious, though. I mean, really, what good animal movie can you name where no animal dies or gets hurt?!), but the way that was carried out was brilliant. Because I was surprised by how I reacted:
I laughed. Ha, okay, I'm totally messing with you- I actually cried. Yes, cried! And I'm hardly a softy when it comes to animals "dying" in movies. I really can't even remember the last time a movie made me cry. But actually, it wasn't exactly the dying dog, Marley, who made me cry. It was the thought of when my beloved dog will one day be dying in the back of our car as we drive to the vet, and I'll be the one gazing into it with glassy eyes. Yup, THAT provoked tears.
Anyways, you know a good movie when you cry at the end, so I'm here to add my name to the LAME PEOPLE WHO CRIED AT THE END list (ha, I'm kidding, we're awesome) and give this movie a decent review. Because, hey, it's a great way to be your own Roger & Ebert. ;P

best movie ever!!!
by Kelli A. Livingstone
This is one of the best movies I have seen in a long time. Be sure that you have a box of tissues with you when you watch, but it is really great. A wonderful family movie, and a must see if you have ever loved a dog.

Great Movie

My family loves this movie, our lab is so much like Marley, it is not even funny.
Marley And Me (Two-Disc Bad Dog Edition) Summary
A New York Times bestseller, Marley & Me is a memoir of Philadelphia Inquirer columnist John Grogan's life with his yellow Labrador retriever. The heartwarming and unforgettable story of a family in the making and the wondrously neurotic dog who taught them what really matters in life.Running Time: 110 minutes Format: DVD MOVIE Genre: COMEDY Rating: PG Age: 02454357
Studio: Tcfhe Release Date: 03/31/2009 Run Time: 110 Minutes Rating: Pg
When a dog wriggles his adorable rear end into a human's life, the human will never be the same. And both Marley, the dog, and
Marley & Me
, the movie, manage to endear themselves deeply despite a few wee flaws. Readers of the John Grogan bestseller already know the raffish charm of the incorrigible yellow lab puppy, Marley, adopted by Grogan and his wife because she's "never seen anything more adorable in my life." But Grogan's simple tale of love, in all its forms, shines on the big screen, thanks to deft comic turns by Jennifer Aniston--in top form here--and Owen Wilson. Their chemistry is utterly natural and believable as Marley's owners, as is their interaction with the very naughty but ultimately irresistible Marley. As Marley grows up, the film follows his escapades--flunking out, spectacularly, from puppy training at the hands of a wickedly funny Kathleen Turner. And as Marley grows up, John and Jenny build their life together and weather some tough emotional blows. Like
My Dog Skip
, which it resembles in its affection for its subject,
Marley & Me
is a tear-jerker, but in the sweetest, most lovely way--because it, and its four-legged star, have wriggled into our hearts. Good boy. --
