I Love This Movie
by Ellen Joy Florendo
brilliant, poetic, original, amazing, beautiful - this is a keeper! In the beginning it seems like there's all sorts of things happening that may seem random or separate. But this movie ties everything together and is shot so beautifully. It's about good and evil...about how humans are flawed, about shame, guilt, greed, love, redemption. love it love it love!

Not your typical Christian movie
by Grimmy (MD USA)
There, I said it. I can already hear the squeals of protest, but ... think about it.
The only reason viewers may even object to this characterization is that, for all its complaints about Christianity, our culture has already been so Christianized that we think the values we cheer in this movie are "normal" or "universal."
A fantastical and moving look at spiritual warfare, idolatry and what's important in life. There's even a Christ-figure for good measure. I'm not saying that's the moviemakers' intent, but I am saying that's what they produced :D despite some "language." I'm serious, I would recommend showing this to any 13+ Sunday School class for intense discusssion.

Subtle And Amazing
by Ross W. Skilling (Bellevue, WA)
I give this 4 stars out of 5 only for the initial, admittedly slow beginning. But once it picks up, this is an amazing movie.
Without being too spoilerish, there are so many layers going on here that, while completely entwined to the viewer, are thus kept almost entirely separate from the characters involved in the story. Each thread could almost work on its own as a whole story (up until the end where it all fits together), but running parallel as they do they artfully reverberate off each other, making an extremely rich narrative.
Another thing I loved about this movie is how in most cases, not *everything* is explained. Certainly, there are necessary pieces of exposition, but in most cases they are expressed necessarily in simple terms a child can understand (you'll see what I mean), allowing for a broad interpretation and allowing the audience to fill-in the blanks of this "universe" as they see fit; showing not telling.
As a side comment: I commented to my friend that this story and its character archetypes could easily be translated into the core book for a role-playing game. Fellow gamers who see this might agree with me.
Yes, the acting in some cases isn't as polished as a mainline production, but the main characters are portrayed very strongly and memorably. The visuals, editing, and overall production of the film is above par for many independent productions of this type, and (imo) many big-budget Hollywood films.
Part of me hopes for a sequel; a bigger part of me would like for it to stand on its own. Either way, it's definitely worth a look.

Wow...
by H. Marshall (Fayetteville, AR USA)
Easily one of the best films I've seen in a while, and certainly this year. Why this film didn't or doesn't get more exposure is beyond me. Visually compelling and an original story line. It starts out kind of confusing I admit, but its worth hanging with, you'll get whats going on.. worth it for me just for the cinematography.

Ink Movie Review
by Dain H. Binder (Indian Orchard, MA)
Ink (2009) is a climax of audio and visual stimulation that takes you on a journey of the subconsciousness. The dark and light forces fight over the soul in a thrilling and thought provoking metaphysical world that is linked to the physical one. This science fiction fantasy is packed with action between mesmerizing sequences of relaxation and happiness that offset the dark and uneasy world of the Incubi.
The Incubi give nightmares while the Storytellers offer dreams of hope. These two groups battle for Emma (Quinn Hunchar) in this alternate realm, where time runs differently, as she lays in a coma in the real world after Ink took her essence to prove his worthiness to become an Incubi. Her only hope is for the Storytellers to change the path of her father, John (Chris Kelly). A series of events changed John from a loving and caring person to a deeply hurt and broken man. With the quest to change John underway another Storyteller, Liev (Jessica Duffy), attempts to adjust Ink's thinking to not continue following the path he is on.
8 out of 10 - A strait forward and simple tale this is not; it is open to some interpretation making the film difficult to follow at times. It does come together more as the film advances, but in the end it may take some nonlinear thinking to understand. Still, this is a very interesting and mind blowing film that intrigues your senses and perception. The acting was fitting for the film, but could be considered a little flat. Jamin Winans, Kiowa K. Winans, and Jeff Pointer created this unique and intriguing story.
