Bad Movie, It seems that Isabel Sarli was really desperate for work when this film wasmade.

FUEGO

This Film is NOT to be believed. For adults only. Very very strange. Right off the wall. I recommend seeing this film.

Not what I remember
by V. Cruz (Ontario, Ca.)
Simply put this dvd, as special features claims has been digitally remastered, still needs alot of work. There is evidence of cuts in the movie and scratches; and the great voluptuos Sarli, is but a figment of my imagination. I remember going to see her movies when I was a teen at my local Spanish theater. Shame on Image to allow this quality to be issued for purchase. The 2nd feature The Female is very artsie but not even a quick glimpse of Sarli's voluptuos torso.
This is not the voluptuos Sarli I remember.

Isabel Sarli - The Tortured Nymphomaniac
by Oliver Penn (New York City)
The character that Isabel Sarli plays in this movie is exactly the type of woman MEN would be if THEY were women. Men fashion themselves as "insatible" and always ready for sex, can you imagine US as women?
"Laura" (Sarli) is a known nymphomaniac who is tortured by a morbid physical desire for sex. Like Suzanne Pleshette in "A Rage To Live," marriage is not the answer. Like a hungry vampire, she roams the streets flashing her huge bare breasts at strange men, even engaging in sex with some of them.
She's also involved in a lusty "affair" with her lesbian maid when men are not available to her. Her virile, loving husband (Antonio Bo) is not enough for her, she is immediately in "heat" right after every sex act.
Her "condition" torments her and she feels doomed. When her husband catches her in bed with another man, he goes wild and she begs him to kill her (to put her out of her misery). During a therapeudic diagnosis by a "sex specialist," Laura reaches a shattering orgasm during the examination.
The movie is certainly titilating, most movies about nymphos usually are (that's why they make them). Fun to watch with other men, for women will probably HATE this film because they despise over-sexed women like this, for they KNOW that their husbands will probably be interested in a woman like Isabel Sarli.
Don't get me wrong, this is not hardcore porno, it's a real movie filmed in South America and New York, but it's bordering on the X-rated.

Scorchingly Hilarious Decadence!
by (West Hollywood, CA USA)
If you enjoy offbeat films like Russ Meyer's "Faster Pussycat, Kill! Kill!" or "Beyond the Valley of the Dolls", or early John Waters features like "Female Trouble" or "Pink Flamingos", brace yourself for "FUEGO", an astounding piece of late 60s sex-melodrama from Argentina. Selling point: The film was so sultry and bodacious (by 1960s standards) that it was actually BANNED in its country of origin!!! Voluptuous ISABEL SARLI deserves high marks for her passionately enthusiastic portrayal of a tormented nymphomaniac whose insatiable lusts push her toward oblivion. The memorable, over-the-top theme song is so relentlessly aggressive it will haunt you forever. Everything about "FUEGO" is beyond belief and stupefying -- you will wonder how it ever got made in the first place! It would be a crime for me to go into any more detail -- you simply MUST see "FUEGO" for yourself and revel in its gaudy delirium! It is so "dreadful" that, honestly, it really deserves 5 stars (in the Bad Is Good category), but I'm only giving this double feature DVD 4 stars. This is partly because the master for "FUEGO" appears to suffer from dirt scratches and some jump-cuts (granted, this probably can't be helped with an obscure film like this -- alternate prints and negatives are likely nonexistant); let me say, however, the color is sumptuous and the print eminently watchable (yes, the scratches do sort of add a level of charm...). The art-housey black-and-white companion feature, "THE FEMALE" (also starring ISABEL SARLI) is a bit of a let down after all the bravado stirred up in "FUEGO". However, "FUEGO" on its own is worth the price of this DVD, so don't hesitate to order! This is the kind of "bad cinema" that's great to watch with a group of friends and only gets better with repeated viewing. I don't think I've ever seen anything quite like "FUEGO" -- it sets new standards for outrageousness and will certainly keep you laughing for a long time.
Fuego / The Female aka Seventy Times Seven (Special Edition) Summary
Fuego (1968, 81 min.) means fire and Isabel Sarli is burning up! Argentina's greatest cinema sex symbol stars as Laura, a nymphomaniac who may very well be sexually insane. Despite the constant attention of her husband, Laura just can't be satisfied. Though she makes it with almost every man in sight, what really pushes her hubby over the edge is Laura's affair with Andrea, her lizard-like lesbian housekeeper. Plus: Choosing between her sheepherder husband or a fugitive horse thief sends Isabel Sarli straight to a whorehouse in "The Female" (1962, 94 min.), an Argentinean cross between Erskine Caldwell and a spaghetti western.
