Great Anti-War Movie
by dasn0wman (Brooklyn, NY United States)
If this movie does not convince you that war is bad, nothing will. Chronicles the path of some young soldiers and the women and lives they left behind. On the homefront, we see the loneliness and solitude, at war, total chaos that can erupt when discipline is not upheld.

Flanders- A beautiful Film
by George in Houston (Spring, Texas United States)
I loved Flanders. The director delivers a raw, stripped down film that initially seems hard to engage. But the humanity and searing emotions of the main characters become vivid and real far beyond what you initially expect or will see elsewhere. It' a portrait of country life, the difficulity of understanding and expressing emotion and the horrors of war. Beautifully shot.
It's a movie you'll either love or hate. I doubt many will fall in the middle. Lovers of film should try it.

COUNTRY BOY
by wdanthemanw (Geneva, Switzerland)
Written and directed by Bruno Dumont. Grand Prize of the Jury of the 2006 Cannes Film Festival. Love story between two country teenagers. They don't speak much but they suffer a lot. Try it.
Flanders Summary
Bruno Dumont follows up the controversial TWENTYNINE PALMS with this tale of a group of young soldiers who go off to war and experience some life-changing events. FLANDRES won the Grand Prix prize at the 2006 Cannes Film Festival. Review From New York Times 05/18/2007 By New York Times Critic Stephen Holden "[Mr. Dumont's] unsettling vision of humanity stripped of cultural finery feels
André Demester leaves his farm in northern France to become a soldier in a far off land. On his last night of freedom he witnesses Barbe, his childhood friend and secret love, sleeping with another man. A twist of fate puts the two men side by side in combat where their undeclared personal war and the one they are fighting tragically merge. Left behind, Barbe, alone and wasting away, faces misfortunes of her own, while awaiting the soldiers’ return.
