Idamante, the son of Idomeneo the King Of Crete, waits for his father to return from the Trojan Wars. Prior to his victorious return, the King has sent ahead of him some Trojan prisoners when the prisoners arrive in Crete, Idamante falls in love with Princess Ilia, the daughter of the now dead King Priam of Troy.
