Dead on arrival
by John D. Aldridge (Waimanalo, Hawaii)
Ya got Steve Martin, Dan Ackroyd, Phil Hartman, Glenne Headly, hell, even Austin Pendleton...and you end up with this unfunny moronic piece of c..p. A compleat waste of some great talent.

It's all in the fire control and elevation board
by bernie (Arlington, Texas)
This film has the feel of the TV show and the personality of today's (1996) actors. And who better to select a Master Sergeant Ernest G. Bilko than Steve Martin. I just don't know why then military did not want to participate in the making of this movie!
Fort Baxter on the surface looks like it is being run by Colonel John T. Hall. Yet in reality the Fort is actually being controlled by Sgt. Bilko. Sgt. Bill code is a schemer and always has some sort of racket going. His crew takes part in his nefarious goings-on. However Major Colin Thorn (Phil Hartman) is on to build those little schemes and determined to expose them. The big showdown comes with a demonstration of the Hover Tank. Can major Thorn exposed Bill co-and also show that Colonel John T. Hall is just his puppet?
Meanwhile in his scheming Sgt. Bilko almost marries (several times) Rita Robbins (Glenn Headley) his sometimes co-conspirator. Will she ever be able to corner him?
The movie is fun to watch over and over as you feel like you want to kibitz each time.

A GREAT COMEDY FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY TO ENJOY
by Z. Jackson
It actually surprises me how many people have never heard of this movie as it is defiantly a classic! The plot of this movie is Sgt. Bilko has this scheme to run the most brilliant illegal gambling operation in the us army. Sgt. Bilko is just the guy everyone loves and he knows how to get a yes out of you, and if you wanting a good bet Sgt Bilko always is game. Wither it is if one of the members in his squadron is Stronger than a horse or the love of his long time girlfriend Rieta. Dan Aykroyd does an excellent job in this movie being the not so bright commander in charge who is really doing everything SGT. Bilko tells him to.

Colonel my Colonel
by John Raatz (Pocatello, ID)
Being a long-time fan of Steve Martin, I found this movie to be an exceptional, rolling on the floor comedy! I first watched it when I was in the military and couldn't deny the similarities between the movie's characters and my experiences with those I served with and under. This is Steve Martin at his very best and it's unfortunate that he hasn't replicated his hilarious performance 'post' Bilko. You don't have to have been in the service to enjoy this movie, but for those who have worn the uniform you won't be able NOT to laugh your behind off.
The TV series was also pretty dang funny for those who remember it. Perhaps the series will make it to DVD, but I doubt it. The studio responsible for this TV show should have packaged it in line with the movie like what was done with "Get Smart". We can always hope can't we?
