Obsolete medium hawker
by Carl E (N.J.)
Why is the continued push to try and convince the unknowing that the vinyl LP is worthy of such indulgence. 21st century has obsoleted this dinosaur of music storage. Fremer has to be putting the consumer on, with this nonsense. Why did he use modern DVD optical recording to give his message about obsolete snap crackle pop obsolete storage medium, why not do it on 8MM film or VHS tape, if obsolete medium,is superior? This joker claims to also hear "improvements" in demagnetized LP's, he also can hear stuff that mortals know don't exist. Ya gotta read about how this joker can demagnetize a plastic LP, and he claims it sounds better!!! What a TOOL. He uses some waffle maker looking crap thing from a company called FuruTech or something, he demagnetizes PLASTIC....what planet is he on, anyway. I think he is also the guy who buys turntables for $100,000 or something, this has to be a put on. Snap crackle pop, 21st century, can we move into it? DSD, optical and other up to date media formats, the vinyl record was obsolete decades ago, still is. Maybe MF was asleep for teh last 30 years, and didn't notice technology moves forward, does he maybe thing B&W tv on a DuMont is superior to current HD flat screens?

Micheal Fremer and Vinyl all over again!
by Clinton Buhler (Cleveland, Ohio USA)
Well, I was a big fan of Michael Fremers last DVD, so for me this was a must have. This time around he delves into further untouched aspects of this fun hobby of vinyl records. (and I don't even have a turntable...yet) He covers how records are made with trips to pressing plants, and shows how the laquers are plated, records pressed and packaged, and an exstensive discusion on how to clean records and the materials and equipment used. He also gets into some basics of record collecting, why people do it, and what some of the things people look for. It's always entertaining and educational as well. If you don't have his first video, buy that one first. This one is really in addition to the material covered in the first DVD.
The reason I gave it 4 stars and not 5 was because of the production quility. At times the video quality isn't quite what the last disk was. (Older footage not considered) I also always wanted to see his personal stereo, and have him play something on it, but he doesn't play any actual music because he says he doesn't have permission to...So why not get permission to? Music is what it's all about right? I the first disk, he at least shows you his turntable. A worthwhile buy though, and educational even if you don't own a turntable yourself. Vinyl is making a comeback!
