There Will Be Blood DVD Summary Writer-director Paul Thomas Anderson steps outside his contemporary world of dysfunctional Angelenos to explore a very different dysfunctional man -- an oil pioneer whose trailblazing spirit is equaled only by his murderous ambition.

There Will Be Blood is Anderson's loose adaptation of the novel Oil! by Upton Sinclair, and it focuses its attentions on Daniel Plainview (Daniel Day-Lewis), a miner who happens upon black gold during a disastrous excavation that ends in a broken leg.

There Will Be Blood DVD Outside Critic Reviews "A haunting enigma that refuses to conform to any recognizable pattern, period or otherwise. I suppose you could see it as a descendant of Citizen Kane. But such comparisons aren't really fair to either film." - Dallas Morning News

" There Will Be Blood is anti-state of the art. It's the work of an analog filmmaker railing against an increasingly digitized world. In that sense, the movie is idiosyncratic, too: vintage visionary stuff. It's physical and tactile. " - Boston Globe

"There Will Be Blood hits with hurricane force. Lovers of formula and sugarcoating will hate it. Screw them. In terms of excitement, imagination and rule-busting experimentation, it's a gusher" - Rolling Stone
