One Star Ranger To the Rescue!
by Vito Skywalker (Hawaii United States)
I see some knucklehead is already throwing out five-star praise for a DVD collection that has not yet been released. As with the yet-to-be-released Season Three Volume One set, I again offer a one-star review as a counter. And again, it all comes back to the music fiasco.
As most everyone concerned knows, the Season Two sets, in one way or another, were bastardized by CBS/Paramount via the removal of the series' original music in exchange for a computerized synthesizer score by some person named Mark Heyes.
The Heyes music ruined the enjoyment for many because it did not fit with the era. Heyes' music was better suited for a straight-to-youtube production. At this point, nobody other than the suits at CBS knows whether Heyes' services were utilized again to continue the ruination of one of the best television series ever created for the Season Three volumes. Until that information is made public, fans of the series who can't stomach watching it with Mark Heyes music are urged to stay away.
If it turns out the Season Three volumes return to Season One standards, i.e. an absence of Heyes and most of the original music intact, I'll gladly remove this one-star review.

Blimey!
by Harry Orwell (Surrey, England)
Wow! It's as if someone just uncorked a bottle. Look, before you criticise me for my five stars, and say stuff about the music etc, consider this: which of us doesn't want these pristine transfers of the greatest drama series of them all? I have learned to live with the new music and life is too short for us waste our time trying to appeal to a gang of heartless money men. So I say, lets enjoy what we have and raise a glass to David Janssen, and of course dear old Barry Morse. And by the time I get this set in the UK it will probably be the 30th anniversary of Janssen's death, so I will definately be celebrating this set with a glass or two. Suggest you do likewise.
Following my review I read with interest that I had been called a knucklehead by a prat who calls himself Vito Skywalker! Let me make it clear for you. I wish they hadn't messed with the music but they have OK. Lets all grow up and accept that and live with it. Like I say, the rest is there and it looks better than it ever has. If that's not good enought for you, don't buy the bloody thing; go and watch a Star Wars cartoon instead!
