This is the 85-minute version. Very disappointed.

I'm a huge fan of "Fugitive Girls" (aka "Five Loose Women") and have anxiously awaited the DVD release for ten years or more. While this DVD is superior in audio and video quality to the multiple VHS versions I own, it is missing a total of five minutes! The sex scenes are cut down to nothing, which is a real shame because they contain some magnificently cheesy dialog and acting, and their absence really takes away from the powerfully trashy experience that is "Fugitive Girls". It is likely that the best-looking source print this company was able to find was missing these scenes, but I would have liked them to say so somewhere on the DVD. It's a rip-off.

"Fugitive Girls"
Ed Wood's Last Screen Appearance
Amos Lassen
Five inmates break out of a women's prison, One of them is a girl convicted of a crime that she did not commit but the other four are hardened criminals. As the authorities chase them down, the girls terrorize or kill anyone who gets in their way. Co-written by Ed Wood this is the story of a beautiful girl sent to prison on trumped up charges. Cat, the top-dyke in the slammer is attracted to her and seduces and rates her despite the girl's admonitions to leave her alone. These women cannot be held behind bars and Cat, her new girlfriend, a piece of white trash and a very tough black inmate escape and wreak havoc as they go wild through the countryside of California. They are vicious women who have no mercy in this truly campy film. They beat up an old mechanic and some hippies, knock a Vietnam veteran over and handle a motorcycle gang by knocking them senseless.
Wood plays two roles here--the gas attendant and the sheriff. The plot line is as old as the hills. The girls are after a stash of money that one of the girls buried before going to the big house. It's a lot of low brow fun for an exploitation film. It has cheesy dialog, really bad acting and, of course, sex. The characters are a real treat and just like you would expect in a B movie. However, the film is actually in focus and the sex is quite explicit. On the other hand the lighting leaves a great deal to be desired. The movie was shot outside at night with just about two lights and it takes some eyeball adjustment to watch. I love this kind of drive-in sexploitation sleaze and this movie is so poorly made that it is hard not to love it. It makes no pretense--it is clumsy and lame-brained with situations that in no way ring true. Yet "Fugitive Girls" is great for those late night sessions when you are at home alone with nothing to do After watching it you will still feel as if you have done nothing.
