Great '78 disc, bad '08 disc
by wado
The 1978 disc is a must have for any fan. Great camera work and sound. The 2008 disc could have been great however the video editing which flashes one second clips through the whole concert makes it unbearable to watch. Whoever thinks that this what people want have their head up their behind.

A very good DVD
by Pedro from Santander (Spain)
I have a bad quality copy of this concert, so when this
concert was released on DVD I decided to buy it
and i'm not dissapointed at all: The quality of the
images are fair good for being +30 years and the sound
is very good.

Classic Betts
by Brad Birchfield (Arkansas)
Well worth the money for any Dickey fan. The vintage concert footage & sound are awesome for their age, the new stuff is great too. A must have for any fan!!! Get this dvd, you wont be dissapointed.

Dickey's Finest!
by Maurice Jones (Doraville, GA USA)
This is must have for any fan of Mr. Betts, the Allman Brothers,or general rock fan. The Rockpalast 78 concert is a real gem, showcasing Mr. Betts & The Great Southern at the top of their game. The majority of the songs are from the "Atlanta's Burning Down" album and sound much better live than Arista Record's stiffly recorded album. Mr. Betts' version of Liz Reed, Jessica and especially High Falls have significant jazz influence and are a real treat!

Dickey Betts & Great Southern "30 Years Of Southern Rock" 2 Disc DVD = 2 Great Concerts, 1 From 1978 + 1 From 2008!!!!!!
by Gary Covington (Louisiana)
Super Outstanding!!! You get 2 great concerts on 2 separate discs. Disc One/Concert #1 is Dickey Betts & Great Southern in concert at Rockpalast in 1978. Disc Two/Concert #2 is Dickey Betts & Great Southern in concert at Rockpalast in 2008. With both concerts, you get a total approximate running time of around 200 minutes. In both concerts, Dickey & the band perform exceptionally well, making this one "GREAT", 2 disc/2concert DVD, and a "must-have" for any Southern Rock Fan, or any Rock Fan Period!!!!

Rockpalast-30 Years of Southern Rock Summary
Dickey Betts and Great Southern were the third highlight at the Rockpalast Festival on March 4th/5th, 1978. On those evenings, they played for the first time in Europe in front of an enthusiastic audience at the Gruga-Halle in Essen/Germany and millions of viewers on television. Dickey Betts is not unknown to those who are familiar with American rock music. He was one of the original members of the Allman Brothers Band and formed his own band Great Southern in 1976.
