Business Strategy & Motivation
by R Silver
I like the juxtaposition of the different leadership styles of Jack Welch versus Alfred Sloan. It gave me a lot of fodder for how I lead and how that can change based on what's needed at the time. Very insightful. They each present completely different styles for different times. Unfortunately, with this economy, Sloan is now more relevant than ever!
Also, I enjoyed seeing the human element of their lives, what their close friends or business associates thought and how that impacted their philosophy of management. I like that because it rounds out the characters versus them just droning on theoretically. It makes it more real. I highly recommend this DVD.

Not worth it
by M. Henderson
Jack Welch embodies the entrepreneurial mindset of a winner, he's a genius and a common sensical leader. This DVD, however, is weak and does little to transmit his thinking. It features little of him actually speaking, and even when it does he does not go into depth on his patented 20-70-10 or motivational strategies - in fact most of it the DVD is his childhood friends from the 50's and an HR Manager that worked with him for a while. Wisdom from the Top
by Heather Kim (New York, NY)
I saw this show on PBS and I'm thrilled it's now out on DVD.
This is like having Jack Welch as your mentor. I've given this DVD to my employees as a great motivator around career and work.

Success Skills from the Corner Office Summary
Array
This DVD has been supersized with additional profiles and video. Are you facing change? Trying to motivate your employees but not sure which leadership strategy works best? What about your own career success? Are you making the choices you need to move to the next level? Some of the best business leaders in our history had distinct leadership styles that proved phenomenally successful for what was needed at the time. Jack Welch ran General Electric for two decades. He cut bureaucracy, layers of management, believed in candor, high energy and informality with a sharp focus on people. Completely different from Welch, Alfred Sloan who ran General Motors during the Great Depression and though the 1950s, set up bureaucratic structures with financial and management controls and systems. Under his stewardship, GM made money every year during the Depression. Sloan was known as an organizational genius. Welch was a motivational genius. When he left GE, the company had risen from a market value of $14 billion to $410 billion at the end of 2004, making it then the most valuable and largest company in the world. In this exclusive interview, Success Television talks to Jack Welch, his childhood friends and experts on what made Welch successful and how we can apply his wisdom to our own lives. To bring this all home, we profile billionaire Jim Clark who founded Netscape and other ventures, on the personal changes he needed to make to succeed. Clark and other business leaders discuss how we can choose to change ourselves and succeed in business and life. This highly motivational DVD is 34:40 minutes in length.
