1/5 One of the worst shows TNA has ever had

Not one match on this show delivered to the point where you will be talking about it at the end of the year. Jenna/Sharmell was one of the worst matches on PPV in quite some time. Most matches that people were looking forward to were disappointing and did not deliver. Unless you want to own every TNA PPV, there is NO reason to buy this show unless you feel like torturing yourself.

TNA Knockouts Champion Tara vs. Angelina Love - Tara won the championship on Impact two weeks earlier after forcing Angelina into a title match so here's Love's rematch. It was mostly Tara dominating with her power with various moments like her pulling out Tajiri's Tarantula move (ironic isn't is) & Angelina doing a headbutt that caused Don West of all people to do a Bobo Brazil reference. It was a nice match that could have been better if it went longer with a finish involving the referee that would be explained later in the night.

Daniels vs. Matt Morgan - A solid average match but nothing noteworthy past good storytelling of Matt Morgan going after Daniels' knee which wasn't 100% going in.

No Disqualification Match: Abyss vs. Dr. Stevie - Before I get started, anyone who's a fan of the Star Wars movie "Empire Strikes Back," you'll get a chuckle out of Dr. Stevie & Daffney in the pre-match interview. However this was a match that was more about putting over a storyline than anything else as this was a heavily one-sided slow paced brawl dominated by Abyss that did the usual formula of fighting around the Impact Zone. This was about Abyss getting his revenge on Stevie more than anything else.

I.W.G.P. Tag Team Champions Team 3D vs. British Invasion - This was your usual performance that you get from Team 3D matches that was filled with the same usual entertaining spots (with Ray even putting his own "british" twist on his bionic elbow) while the British Invasion were able to hold their own in the ring here eventhough they botched a few spots.

Jenna Morasca vs. Sharmell - Jenna had bought the services of Awesome Kong while Sojo Bolt was appearently friends with Sharmell & in her corner. All I could say here was that maybe TNA saw the "Hog Pen" match at WWE Extreme Rules & thought "maybe we can top that" because this was horrible with the only thing noteworthy was Jenna's outfit & her "Melina-like entrance" while moving like a stripper ontop of Sharmell while getting the pin. Aside from that & Sojo Bolt doing a crash & burn on the floor towards the end, this was crap to the point where what Awesome Kong did afterwards was the best part of this "match".

TNA Legends Champion A.J. Styles vs. Kevin Nash - This was the "David vs. Goliath" formula you would expect from these two with Nash using his power while A.J. relied on his speed. I'll give A.J. huge credit here in that he used the old "Bret Hart" formula in that he heavily tried to ground Nash by working on his legs right from the start and even using various submission moves such as a leglock at one point but Nash pulled the "sterotypical Cena" performance as he was dominated throughout the match only to hit two moves & won the match. This was about as good as it could have been since A.J. had to try to work around Kevin Nash's limited performance but the finish heavily hurt the match eventhough the story being told was that A.J. didn't get beat...he got caught.

TNA Tag Team Champions Beer Money vs. Booker T & Scott Steiner - In a nutshell, this match was no different than the rest on this card as this match never got out of first gear & cut short before it ever had the chance to pick up. Beer Money tried & put in a good effort but when Booker & Steiner's offense everytime they were in control just really slowed the match down. The ending was botched between James Storm & Earl Hebner but nothing else to say here past this was about continuing the theme of the night which was Main Event Mafia tag team domination.

Sting vs. Samoa Joe - The ex-Main Event Mafia member facing the man who replaced him in the group and as mentioned throughout the match, they've had a history dating back to a year ago. They started off brawling right off the bat by going throughout the crowd, ramp, and ringside area (I guess TNA doesn't do countouts?) with Joe getting his head banged against the wall various times. The rest of the match was decent & the muscle buster towards the end look like it was botched resulting in a lackluster finish. This was nowhere near their Bound For Glory match as this was all about the debut of Samoa Joe's advisor, Taz...which really came off as uneventful based on how everyone reacted to it.

TNA Champion Kurt Angle vs. Mick Foley - It should be noted that this was the first one on one meeting between these two & Kurt was going into this match with a legit groin injury which saw him not go as "all out" & intense as Kurt usually does and you saw him heavily favor it as one point after missing a moonsault. I'll give credit here in that Mick gave the best inring "wrestling" performance he's had up to this point in TNA with using various moves like a bodysissors/mandible claw combination. This was a solid bout but again, nothing really memorable.

In the end, this PPV wasn't as bad as how Against All Odds or Destination X was but this really lacked any memorable moments weather it was matches or promos/segments. Add in the fact that there was no X Division match yet room for Jenna/Sharmell along with the crowd not being able to get into anything on this show didn't help matters either. All the matches never seemed to pick up the pace & whenever one was heading that direction, it ended in the blink of an eye making this a very forgettable show at the end of the night. It just seemed like everyone had an off night and the buildup leading into this PPV along with the Kurt Angle interview summerized this PPV perfectly, this was all about the domination by the Main Event Mafia. This is something you can easily skip but if you have a few bucks you won't miss...only then I would recommend this.

The second TNA pay-per-view that I am reviewing, and I hope it can live up to the standard set by Slammiversary 2009.

TNA Women's Knockout Championship Match: Tara (Champion) (with Poison) vs. Angelina Love (with The Beautiful People)
On Impact!, Tara managed to win the title from Angelina Love with the help of her new tarantula named Poison, and here's the rematch. At Slammiversary, these two put on a pretty bad match, but this was a HUGE improvement. There was nice, fast-paced action, and they actually put on a good match. Tara hit her standing moonsault and also brawled on the outside with The Beautiful People. The ending came after Tara hit the Widow's Peak, only to have the referee being distracted by The Beautiful People, who accidentally sprayed Angelina in the face with hairspray. The end came after Angelina pinned Tara and the ref made the three count, despite the fact that Tara's foot was on the bottom rope! After the match, Tara beat up on Angelina and super kicked the referee. Following this, she took Poison out and let him crawl on the ref. Eek. Winner: Angelina Love. Match Rating: 4/5

Daniels vs. Matt Morgan
Eh, this match was pretty disappointing. Daniels did all he could to make it interesting, but the "power" game that Morgan played throughout the match was lame and overused. Basically, Daniels tried to mount offense on Morgan repeatedly throughout the match, hitting a nice split-legged moonsault to the outside that was the highlight, but when Daniels tried to hit a flying crossbody to the outside, he landed funky on his foot. And thus, the power game continued, with Morgan simply beating up on Daniels, throwing him against the barricade and stuff like that, and even going as far as to toy with him. When Morgan was going to go for his finisher, he simply dropped Daniels on the ground and toyed with him some more. Of course, Daniels managed to get Morgan down and was about to go for the Best Moonsault Ever, only to have his leg go out on him. Morgan hit his finisher and pinned Daniels. Lame match, and Matt Morgan really isn't that good for a wrestler. Winner: Matt Morgan. Match Rating: 3/5

No Disqualification Match: Abyss vs. Dr. Stevie
Of course, Abyss and Dr. Stevie both gave a great performance at Slammiversary's Monster's Ball Match, so it's nice to see them in the ring together. It seems that Abyss is going a bit crazy. The match started out with Dr. Stevie whipping Abyss with some stick thing, and then the fight spilled to the crowd after Abyss started mounting some offense. It was a rather boring brawl after that, until Abyss through Dr. Stevie into the brick wall a couple of times. The fight returned to the ring, and Abyss hit some powerful offense, only to stop the count and continue to fight Dr. Stevie. Daffney ran out to the ring with a taser, following a moment where Abyss threw Dr. Stevie head-first into a chair set up in the turnbuckles. Taylor Wilde ran out to the ring to Abyss's aid and started brawling with Daffney, even throwing her right into the steel steps. Let me tell you, Daffney is extremely impressive as a wrestler. Dr. Stevie went to hit Abyss with the taser, but Abyss countered and hit the Black Hole Slam. Following this, Abyss USED THE TASER on Dr. Stevie and then covered him for the victory. Nice match, but it wasn't hardcore enough for my tastes. Winner: Abyss. Match Rating: 4/5

IWGP Tag Team Championship Match: Team 3D (Brother Ray and Brother Devon) (Champions) vs. The British Invasion (Doug Williams and Brutus Magnus) (with Rob Terry)
This is another revenge match from Slammiversary. The British Invasion were largely the reason why Team 3D lost the TNA World Tag Team Championship to Beer Money, and so Ray and Devon obviously want some revenge, but their IWGP Tag Team Championship from New Japan Wrestling is on the line. The match was a pretty basic tag team match, with not much we haven't seen before. Williams and Magnus were obviously outmatched by Ray and Devon in the experience department as Williams and Magnus botched things repeatedly, and Rob Terry interfered at the wrong moments it seemed. Regardless, the match was still very solid and entertaining, with Team 3D winning the match by hitting the 3D and retaining their title. After the match, Team 3D were attacked by Sheik Abdul Bashir and a wrestler from New Japan Wrestling whose name escapes me. They tried to put Ray and Devon through a table Team 3D got out for The British Invasion members. However, Ray chopped the Japanese man and threw him out of the ring. They followed this up with a super powerbomb off the top rope by Ray through the table on Bashir. Winners: Team 3D. Match Rating: 4/5

Jenna Morasca (with Awesome Kong) vs. Sharmell (with Sojo Bolt)
This match was just plain awful. It was hardly even a wrestling match, with neither Sharmell nor Morasca doing much of anything but what we've come to except from a women's match with two competitors who couldn't wrestle to save their lives. Everything was sloppy and slow and rather boring, with the only excitement coming from the interferences by Bolt and Awesome Kong, with Bolt taking a nasty powerbomb-like fall off the top turnbuckle and to the outside. This is the worst match I have seen TNA put on and I am ashamed to have even watched it. Morasca gets the win after Kong punches Sharmell in the face. I'm not kidding. Winner: Jenna Morasca. Match Rating: 1/5. After the match, Kong hit a splash on Morasca, and that was oh so delicious.

TNA Legends Championship Match: AJ Styles (Champion) vs. Kevin Nash
I wasn't expecting much of this match, but at least the ending was surprising. Basically, at the beginning, Nash beat the crap out of Styles with some basic offensive maneuvers, but then Styles started to mount an offense. Styles went to the top turnbuckle, but Nash hit a BIG BOOT on Styles that sent HIM FALLING TO THE APRON, TO THE FLOOR, AND SMACKING HIS HEAD ON THE SECURITY RAIL! Jesus. Anyway, the match went back to the ring, but then Styles started to beat up on Nash after countering a Jackknife Powerbomb attempt into a seated senton. Styles then did basic grapple and submission maneuvers but Nash wouldn't give up. Nash finally powered up to his feet, but Styles hit the Pele Kick OUT OF NOWHERE! This only got the two count though, and then Styles went to the ring apron. He tried to springboard off the top ropes for a double axe handle, but Nash kicked him in the gut in mid-air, hit the Chokeslam, and got the win!!! I expected more out of Styles, but at least the match wasn't like thirty minutes long and the ending was pretty surprising and needed. Winner: Kevin Nash. Match Rating: 3/5

TNA World Tag Team Championship Match: Beer Money, Inc. (James Storm and Robert Roode) (Champions) vs. The Main Event Mafia (Booker T and Scott Steiner)
Compared to their match with Team 3D last month, this match is a disappointing showing for Beer Money. I think it's mostly because their opponents, Booker T and Scott Steiner, just don't work good as a tag team together but whatever. The match was solid and nothing we haven't seen before, with nice tag team moves, including the DWI, but whenever Steiner and Booker had the advantage on Beer Money, the match slowed down to a near crawl. The end was pretty cool though, with a member of Beer Money (they look too similar!) eating an Axe Kick from Booker as they leaned over the top rope. This allowed Steiner to roll them up and get the pinfall. Winners: The Main Event Mafia. Match Rating: 3/5

Samoa Joe vs. Sting
Eh, another average match and a disappointing match considering these two are a couple of the greatest wrestlers of all time. The match started with some brawling as Joe took some SICK head shots into the concrete and stuff, which was pretty impressive, but when the action returned to the ring, everything dissolved into being an average match. We didn't see anything new, but the match was still solid. Sting locked in the Scorpion Deathlock at one point right in the middle of the ring, but then Tazz came out to the ring, which made Sting let go of the hold for some stupid reason. Joe then mounted a comeback, locked in the Coquina Clutch, and then Sting...TAPPED!!! I didn't expect the ending, but the match was still average throughout. Not pay-per-view material, and these two can do much, MUCH better. Winner: Samoa Joe. Match Rating: 3/5

TNA World Heavyweight Championship Match: Kurt Angle (Champion) vs. Mick Foley
This match was actually very well done. It was mostly fast-paced, with lots of back-and-forth action, though Angle took quite a bit in the beginning of the match. Foley attempted a piledriver on the outside that got countered into a back body drop onto the steel steps. In the ring, Angle applied the Ankle Lock, but Foley managed to power out of the hold. Foley hit the Double-Arm DDT on Angle, but Angle KICKED OUT!!! Foley then accidentally ran into the ref, and while the ref recovered, Angle kicked Foley in the groin and hit the Angle Slam!!! BUT FOLEY KICKED OUT!!! A frustrated Angle elbow dropped the referee and went out to get a steel chair. He went to hit Foley with the chair, but Foley dodged the shot and applied the Mandible Claw, using the sock on his hand!!! Angle dropped to the ground and Foley went for the cover, but Angle kicked out!!! Angle managed to apply the Ankle Lock again, and after applying a leg scissors to accompany the lock, Foley had no choice but to tap out. Winner: Kurt Angle. Match Rating: 5/5

OVERALL EVENT
This is a HUGE step down from Slammiversary 2009. There was no X-Division Match to be seen, and the focus on the Main Event Mafia was disappointing. Immediately after Kevin Nash won the TNA Legends Championship from AJ Styles, we all knew how the rest of the night would play out. The main event delivered, but for the most part, the performances were average, with the Sharmell/Morasca match being one of the worst matches I have ever seen.
