It is really an honor to be the first person to review this amazing release. I just love watching classical piano performances on DVD. For the last year I have been collecting lots of classical piano DVDs that I mostly selected based on the reviews I found in this site, so I am really grateful to all the people that made those reviews, I guess it is time to write my first review and I could not have chosen a better release to begin with.
First of all I would like to say that there are a lot of really superb classical piano performances available on DVD, I have truly enjoyed so many of them so much.
About this particular programme I have to say that Francesco Libetta is an astounding master of the piano, watching him play is absolutely magnificent, a totally unsurpassable and magistral experience that will blow you away, I mean literally, believe me, his technic is awesome and absolutely a treat to watch, every movement he makes through the whole keyboard and every note he plays just could not be more brilliantly done, and his musicality and expressiveness are unbelievable, the music selection for this particular recital is also fantastic, lots of composers, lots of wonderful pieces masterly performed.
About the technical aspects of the film, well it is a film by the renown Bruno Monsaingeon, and it could not had been filmed better. The hall at La Roque d'Antheron International Piano Festival was specifically prepared to capture this recital on DVD, lots of cameras strategically placed and remotely controlled, and the result is just the best camera work I have seen to date in the filming of piano perfomances, amazing camera views, all exquisitely done.
So if you love the piano and feel passion for it and enjoy watching performances of the highest level do not miss this magnificent, spellbinding, breathtaking and electrifying recital remarkably captured on film.
