I first saw this when I was watching BET on Jazz one day, and it has the late Gil Evans incl. the special guests who are in the big band playing along with Him (e.g. The Brecker Brothers, Lew Soloff, Howard Johnson, Tom Malone, Mike Maineri, George Young, etc.) This was taped back in the mid or late '80s or so when this was out. Definitely one of my favorites. 'Cuz this will go on and on and on.

for the one who wonders where/how jazz and classical come together in the large continuum of music, gil evans marks one of those interesing points of transition. other such contributions came from schifrin, ellington, getz (focus), mingus, fadis, ...

exquisite performance equally appealing to both jazz and classical music fans.
