Racing Daylight has captivating performances along with beautiful photography and edgy characters. The plot moves seamlessly between the here and now and the Civil War as the mousey protagonist morphs into a vixen with whom two men are desperately in love. The uniformly excellent cast is very impressive and David Strathairn's looks only improve with age. Beautiful mid-nineteenth century women's clothing and authentic military uniforms add to the luscious script.

This indie film shares a lot of the same feel that the Sixth Sense has and like that movie only improves with a second viewing once you understand what is going on with the characters.

I've watched this movie repeatedly with great enjoyment -- and it gets better each watching. Part ghost story, part period piece, part comic character study, Nicole Quinn's offbeat love story about two souls that keep connecting in the past and present. Both Melissa Leo and David Strathairn are terrific in complex, detailed, and ultimately charming roles. It's a chick flick that men enjoy, too.
