    In Louis Armstrong, America never had a more widely-beloved ambassador because "Satchmo the Great" was, and to a great extent still is, the essence of jazz. In front line partners Edmond Hall, on clarinet and Trummy Young, trombone, Armstrong had two of the foremost trade-to-mainstream-swing players of the day, while the Billy Kyle/Arvell Shaw/Barrett Deems rhythm section was as proficient as it was inexhaustible. Concentrating mostly on the classic jazz staples (including "West End Blues," "Tiger Rag," "Muskrat Ramble") that were at the heart of the All-Stars repertoire, with a few standards like "All of Me" and "Undecided" added for good measure, Armstrong's celebrated chops -- instrumental and vocal -- are in excellent form throughout. For this new edition of Ambassador Satch, three previously unreleased tracks have been added in honor of the centennial of Louis Armstrong, Sun King of Jazz. Running Time: unknown
